Philosophy Statement for Dance Education in the Elementary School

As educators we seek to improve educational opportunity in ways that are life changing for
children and transforming for our country. We all decided to get involve with education for the
same purpose to help children reach their full potential. It doesnt matter what role you represent
in the education in United States, everyone impacts a child life differently. As teachers or any
role we have our own core values and perspectives. For myself, teaching provides an opportunity
for continues learning and growth. Teaching students leadership, Team, Diversity, Respect,
humility, and collaboration helps students develop their character and self-esteem.
It is important to teach students Dance and Arts in education, it creates a different setting.
Students might feel more comfortable and learn about themselves. I think is not only important
for the child to receive a solid education, but to also learn dance and different aspects in the arts.
I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating
atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially.
Students will grow or create their own personality by getting involved with dance, music, in arts
education. Dance can introduce different concepts such as mathematics, science, history and
others. With the creativity and effort students can have fun and learn at the same time.
Dance can also help students develop a deep love and respect for themselves, others, and their
environment occurs through an open sharing of ideas and a judicious approach to discipline.
Providing an environment where children can feel free to express themselves. In turn they learn
to respect themselves, others, and their environment.
