Reflection
This paper has evolved since I started with my Short Assignment #1, for sure. When I
first began, I had intentions on writing a composition piece as well as a news article of sorts. I
figured that there would be no better way of illustrating creativity in computer science than
with music, which is essentially all creativity. However, I struggled with finding what genre of
music I would compose, and how I would relate it back to my project (I knew I wasnt going to
sing in it, so it would have to be non-verbal). I ended up deciding on the
PowerPoint/brochure/newspaper combo as I knew I could write down a lot of information on it,
allowing me to really illustrate my topic to my peers.
The PowerPoint also allows me to speak about my topic, allowing me to answer
questions verbally and clarify any hazy points for either my peers or my professor. The brochure
and newspaper allow me to make a physical copy of my work to distribute to my peers. These
two facets of the presentation are what sold me on using these three genres, and they also fulfill
two mediums (screen and paper).
