OUR MISSION
The mission of the Capitol Ballet Collective is to provide
a creative experience and enhance the cultural
vibrancy of the capitol area. Our classically trained
company and renowned choreographers are dedicated
to the promotion, preservation, and continuing
evolution of the ballet art form. We create a prospering
environment for the traditional art form of ballet
through stagings of both traditional and contemporary
works at our state-of-the-art facility located in the
heart of East Lansing.

OUR VISION
Capitol Ballet Collective has become one of Michigans
are entertained and inspired each year through our
affordable performances and various community

outreach initiatives. We are committed to making the

involvement in local community activities, support of
other arts non-profits, and guest instructor workshops
open to the public. Through these initiatives, our
companys goal is to develop an appreciation for dance
in the capitol area that spans current and future
generations.

THE FIREBIRD

A ballet doesn't - can't - exist without dancers.

Our dancers carry within themselves the
technique, knowledge, steps and
understanding to bring countless works of art
alive. They are the raw material, inspiration
and institutional memory on which our
choreographers rely. Meet our 2016-2017
company in this world-premiere
contemporary work from our resident ballet
mistress, Patricia Barker.

The Russian legend of the Firebird, a powerful good

spirit whose feathers supposedly convey beauty and
protection will surely captivate audiences. Witness as
the heroic Prince Ivan Tsarevich battles the evil
sorcerer Kashchei, to try and rescue the princes he
loves with the help of the Firebird.

THE NUTCRACKER

December 8-11 and 15-18, 2016

One of Lansings favorite holiday traditions,
"The Nutcracker is a fun-filled performance
for the entire family. An annual tradition at
Capitol Ballet Collective, The Nutcracker
combines the artistry of CBC professionals
with local ballets students under the aweinspiring direction our ballet mistress,
Patricia Barker. From sword fights and sugar
plums to some of Tchaikovskys most beloved
music, The Nutcracker is a holiday treat
youll want to share with those you love.

SLEEPING BEAUTY

April 14-17 and 21-24, 2017

The beloved story of the beautiful Princess Aurora,
the evil sorceress Carabosse, and the awakening kiss
of a handsome prince is certain to cast a spell on
your heart and imagination in an all-new production,
newly staged and inspired by Len Baksts historic
designs for Diaghilevs Ballets Russes.

Zany and laugh-out-loud funny, The Bright

Stream celebrates the illusory nature of love in all of
its baffling, maddening detail with mistaken identities,
hilarious deceptions and happy resolutions. Set
during a harvest festival, a Moscow dance troupe
arrives to entertain the workers, resulting in one
humorous event after the next.
