participating in MVPA with 70% success rate.
Cognitive (C): SWBAT recognize the dance for the Quan when it is being presented and teach
their peers the step with an 85% accuracy rate.
H-R Fitness (H): SWBAT remain actively engaged in MVPA at least 50% of the time during the
duration of the dance unit.
During this unit I felt as though the students were able to meet the learning objectives
that were set for the week. At the end of the week students were able to recognize and
demonstrate the COTS for the Quan. Through past experience I did not set the goals high and
because of that I feel as though I was able to reach learning objectives for psychomotor and
cognitive. Just as last week, I did not reach my goal of fifty percent MVPA.
Before the start of the lesson, all students were seated on the white base line. I
provided the class with full detailed instructions. I tried to make them as clear as possible so that
they understood the dance. By doing so my instruction time was documented at eight minutes,
which was the lowest I have had all semester. I felt as though my students actively participated in
the lesson that was taught this week which allowed them to meet the four learning criteria.
During the instant activity the class instantly jumped into how to do the dance for the day due to

the limited of time provided. Students stood on polly spots which provided an amount of space
between the each student. After the teacher demonstrated the each step of the dance, the students
would follow and demonstrate the dance. This allowed the students to gain more practice and
continue to be actively engaged throughout he lesson instead of receiving so much instructions.
After the students practiced the dance steps a few times, I included the music with the dance.
However, My MVPA goal was still not quite there. The activity time that was documented was
only ten minutes. As I taught the class I stood in front of the class most of the time to help as a
guide. I also moved throughout the rows a few times during practice making sure each student
was participating While walking through the rows I provided feedback and reinforced the COTS
for those who may have seem a little lost or off beat. This put my management time at almost ten
minutes, which was almost the same as the activity time. However, dance does involve a lot of
management. At the end of the lesson, each student picked up their polly spots, placed it in the
appropriate area, and stood around me as I closed the last day of being there Tiger Pride teacher.
In the future, I will try to work on an easier way of learning the students names. I will
also find better ways of shortening my instruction time and providing my class with more
activity time. I will continue to work on my idiosyncrasies, which is hard to get away from. I will
try to do all that I can to be a more effective teacher. It was a joy working with the students at
Cleveland Elementary.
