The coil method: where a long sausage of clay is coiled over itself and then
smoothedover.Thismethodisextremelyversatileandsimpleandhencefrequently
usedforhomemade coarseware.The pot couldalso befinishedoff onthepotter's
wheel, making it difficult or impossible to distinguish from a pot "thrown" on a
wheel.A brokenshardofpottery made with this method will tendtoshowuneven
thickness.

Thrown on a potter's wheel with a heavy flywheel to keep it going at constant
speed. The result tends to be very even, except in points where there is astrong
