When writing my rhetorical analysis, I struggled with keeping my
paper on the topic. With the advertisements, I had a difficult time not
completely focusing on the ad. I had to keep my topic broad but at the
same time discuss why the advertisements related to my chosen topic
of rape culture in consumerism and media. However I was able to refer
back to the material I learned and discussed in class. I was still able to
refer to the WPA Outcome statements and especially referred back to
the Process, Critical Thinking, and Knowledge of Conventions. I
remembered I had to conceptualize and develop how my paper will go
and how it will be finalized through the construction of each draft. I
then had to also edit my paper, making sure the grammar, and
structure of it was correct. I also referred back to my reading, which
also helped with keeping e on topic and focusing on the right things
instead of just focusing only on the advertisements. Although I had
plenty of materials to go off of and refer back to, I still had a difficult
time, I want to make sure that I had used the references correctly and
adequately to my need.
