Annotated Bibliography: Video Games
Research Question: How do video games make people smarter?
Thesis Statement: Video games make people smarter by giving people new characteristics, it
helps people with photographic memory wise, spatial imagery, and it also helps people solve
problems.

The article explains all the characteristics that can be acquired by playing video games. It
gives information from neuroscientists telling what kind of learning experience could come from
video gaming. It also explains how video gaming could be good for our people skills and make
friends and work as a team. It also tells how video games could be good for navigating and it
explains how people gain or improve interpersonal intelligence. Ian Bogost who is a Georgia
Tech professor says that he believes people become better individuals by playing games that
require teamwork. I believe that this article would be a helpful asset to my research because it
explains about how people gain characteristics and people skills.

The article talks about a person by the name of Jane Mcgonigal who creates reality
games. She explains how she tries to create games that would improve peoples lives or solve big
problems. She explains a word that she has created which is Gameful and the meaning has to
do with having a heart of a gamer instead of just being playful. She explains how gaming could
help with education and explains how gaming has have a positive perspective on life. I believe
this article would be helpful in my research because it has information about a person who makes
games that tries to improve society.

This article explains how any game genre could make a person smarter. Michael Casey
has gone to the University of Rochester to research information on how video games make
people smarter. He has gone to a professor by the name of Daphne Bavelier who researches in
brain and cognitive sciences and so far from Daphnes researches she says that people become
better learners with fast pace games and etc she has started a research where she gets gamers
to play 3 types of video games genres and compare which person becomes the quickest learner. I
believe this article would be helpful in my research because it explains which genre is more
helpful on society by teaching or giving characteristics.
