Convenience:
Eectiveness of a Good Website

Recommenda*on to Oramen

By Rene A. Arias
Informa*on Consultant

Problem
Oramen lacks an eec*ve

method of conveying
informa*on

Oramen only has a

Facebook page that

provides the bare minimal
informa*on to its
customers

Needs informa*on about

inaccessibility and an
easier method of nding
informa*on

Purpose
To innovate the previous

method or create a new one

en*rely

The new method should be

more eec*ve in easily

conveying vital informa*on to
customers

Research Plan
The research to aEain possible solu*ons are based on
a four-step process:
Step 1: Create condi*ons for evalua*ng
Step 2: Gather informa*on about accessible informa*on
Step 3: Create a survey about how people search for

informa*on about a restaurant

Step 4: Talk to a local restaurant about their method of
conveying informa*on

Results of Research
The results of the research was insightful
Step 1: created a criteria with Charles Jackson from Demand Media for

evaluating possible solutions

Cost-effectiveness
Effectiveness in conveying Information
Professional Influence
Step 2: searched through various websites and found Simply Design
Learned more about conveying information:
Information should be accessible at all time
Facebook page format is difficult to find what a person wants
People initially search website for Restaurants most of the time

Step 3: Created a survey and

hand it out to over 40 UNM

restaurants website for

gathering informa*on
Websites are helpful
Overall, the current
method of Oramen is
not the most eec*ve

Call the restaurant

Check Facebook Page
Email the business

Continuation of Results
Step 4: interview with a worker from Fron*er about the eec*veness

of having a Facebook page and website.

Results:

Facebook is good for people who already know about the

restaurant

Facebook page cant give too much informa*on

Website serves as a balance and could provide a lot of

informa*on
A website is a lot easier for newcomers who want to nd specic
informa*on

Possible Solutions
AWer the research plan and its results, I came up with two

solu*ons:

Make a website
Update the Facebook page

Analysis of Solutions
Op6on 1- Improve on the Facebook Page
Cost-eec*veness- upda*ng informa*on is free and to get
exposure will cost a total of $560 per month or $6720 per
year
Eec*veness in conveying informa*on- able to add any

amount of informa*on in the descrip*on sec*on

Professional inuence- the Facebook page will be more
directed toward the younger audience and will have a minor
professional inuence

Continuation of Analysis
Op*on 2- Create a Brand New Website
Cost-eec*veness- From Simply Design, a website will cost $8,660 for
the rst year and $3,000 for the years aWer.
Eec*veness in Conveying informa*on- a website can put a lot of
informa*on in an organized manner by using tabs and redirects.
Professional Inuence- a website will improve the reliability and image
of the restaurant to the public depending on how you design it

Recommendation
Overall, the best op*on is to create a website
Crea*ng a Website is Actually Less Expensive Than the Facebook

Op*on
A Website Can Provide Informa*on BeEer
Having a Website Can Contribute to Greater Success
