    The Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art is a beneficial space for a lot of people. A majority of the people that walked in were absorbed in the art and the only thing you could hear is the footsteps of people moving from painting to painting. There was a worker coming in every now and then making sure people were touching the art or taking pictures.

    inLAInaturalthoughttogohere.Iwalkedintothemainbuildingrightbehindtheurbanlights.
    AsIwalkedinIknewexactlywhereIwantedtogo,totherightwerethemoremodern
    Instagramfamousartpieceswere.Asectionwherethere'soversizedpoolballsonthefloor,a
    giantcombleaningagainstthewall,apaintingfromAndyWarhol,andpopartfromRoy
    Lichtenstein.Theroomisalittlebiggerthanaverage,thewallsareaeggshellwhiteand
    surroundingtheroomare15paintings.PiecesofartrangingfromClaesOldenburgGiantpool
    balls,VijaCelminsuntitled(comb),EllsworthKellyBlueCurveIII,JohnMcCracken
    DontTellMeWhentoStop,AndyWarholCampbellsSoupCan,andmyfavoriteRoy
    LichtensteinColdShoulder.Isatdownonabenchandbeganwritingaway,mostpeopledid
    notstaylongerthan3minutes.Amajorityofthepeoplethatwalkedinwereabsorbedintheart
    andtheonlythingyoucouldhearisthefootstepsofpeoplemovingfrompaintingtopainting.
    Therewasthreeyoungteenstalkingabouthowdifferenttheartisandtherewassomemiddle
    agedpeopleexplaininghowtheydidntunderstandsomepieces,andfoundthemrather
    pointless.Theyoungerpeoplearelouderandmoreintotheirownconversations,completely
    nonartrelatedconversations.Everynowandthenquiteafewpeoplecomeintotheroomtalking

    withhisgirlfriendirritatedsayingeverythingwas"justapainting,notreallygettingthewhole
    aspectoftheplace.TherewasaLACMAworkercomingineverynowandthenmakingsure
    peopleweretouchingtheartortakingpictures.Notreallyinteractingwithanyofus.
    TheLosAngelesMuseumofContemporaryArtisabeneficialspaceforalotofpeoplein
    thecommunity.ThetimeIspentthereIsawavarietyofpeopleenjoyingtheart.Therewas
    youngkidsoutsidedoingcraftslikebuildhouseswithreceivables,teenagersenjoyingthetrendy
    piecesofartliketheurbanlightsortheneonlightsigns,andolderpeopleenjoyingtheolderand
    morepopularpiecesofart.LACMAisevenagreatplacetogowithfriends,family,oreven
    alone,likeIdidmyself.Imeetanotherguymyagewhowastherebyhimself,hehada
    professionalcameraandwastakinghistimeateachartpiece.Iwascuriouswhyhedecidedto
    comealone,soIapproachedhimandverypoliteaskedifhewasalone,hesaidhewasandthat
    hedecidedtocometoLACMAbecausehejustwantedtogetoutofthehouse.Hethoughtbeing
    inaquietareawithotherswhoenjoyartseemedlikejusttheescape.LACMAisagreatplace
    thatcanbringalotofpeopletogethereveniftheydontknowit,itisanonjudgementalplace
    whereyoucangobyyourselfandjustenjoyadayout.Itdestroysthesocialexpectationsof
    havingtohangingoutwithalargegroupoffriendstoenjoyadayout.AtfirstIadmitIfeltvery
    uncomfortableandintimidatedwiththeideaofgoingoutalonewhereIknewtherewouldbea
    lotofpeople.AtthesametimeIfeltitwasreallyinconsideratetodragafriendorfamily
    memberalongwhileIsatdowninonespotforanhour,whileIobservedandwrotesomenotes.
    OnceIgottherenoonereallypaidattentiontooneanother,everyonewasmoreintotheart
    work.Ithoughtsittinginthesameareawasgoingtobeboringbutsincenoonereallyfocusing

    onwhowaswatchingIgottoobserveeveryonesmovementsandfacialexpressionswithout
    themnoticingme.Ievengotafewinterestingpeoplecomeinquiteoften.TheonlythingI
    wouldimproveaboutLACMAwouldbetheplacestosit.Theyshouldhaveatleastonebenchin
    eachroomsopeoplecandothesamethingIdid,sitandobserveeveryonecominginandout.
