V. George Mathew. Psychology of Consciousness. Psychology4all.com. April 28 2012.
Mathew. 2001. Electronic source. September 19 2015.
http://www.psychology4all.com/psychologyofconsciousness.htm.
My first citation is about consciousness and mindfulness through altered states. This
source offers a wide amount of information from a science opinion. Its subjects vary from
hypnosis, to meditation, and other altered states. This website is useful and easy to navigate.
This source helped me understand more about consciousness through easy,
understandable, written out paragraphs. Im going to use this website to really expand on the idea
of what consciousness is, and how it works with altered states.
Michael Persinger. How Psychedelic Drugs Affect Consciousness. Video. Youtube.com. Feb
16 2011. Sep 19 2015. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrx-KaYL2AY.
My second citation is about consciousness and psychedelic drugs on the brain. This video
includes images of the brain, along with visual representations of what people made when they
were in altered states. It has video of real brains being worked on, which helped me understand
where the drugs alter the brain, for example, learning about the neurotransmitter paths in our
brains. A dream like state occurs in the frontal lobe when drugs are active; without that, the drugs
would not affect us as such.
Im going to use this video to show where in the brain scientifically, that our brains are
affected, if they really are. Michael Persinger believes in using psychedelics for brain research.

Scientists like Persinger, touched base on what humans think we perceive and what we actually
perceive. This is useful information to use in my research project.
Stephen Walkin. About Hypnosis. Walkin. 2015. Website. Sep 19 2015.
http://www.abouthypnosis.com/how-hypnosis-works.html.
This is my third citation, and it explains all of the ins and outs of hypnotherapy. It
supports all types of hypnosis, but it also stays unbiased to all other information. This website
was extremely helpful with being short and to the point. The website is formal and easy to
navigate. It explains hypnosis connecting to the unconscious side of peoples brains.
Im going to use this website page to take the valuable information about; if hypnosis
works, what it does, how its done, and how it affects you after the treatments of hypnotherapy.
Im going to go into detail to make the reader understand fully about hypnosis.
Division of Brain Sciences. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3909994/. Frontiers
in Human Neuroscience. 3 Feb 2014. Website. Sep 19 2015.
This is my fourth citation, it is informative about psychedelic research. For example, the
doctors use neuroimaging research to find out more about the conscious states in the brain. This
article explains entropy and disorder, and (REM) sleep compared to psychedelic altered states.
It explains that scientists make the case that scientific research with psychedelics has high
potential for developing aspects of psychoanalytic theory and for studying human consciousness
more generally. Im going to use that statement and write about todays news on psychoanalytic
theories.
Hank Green. Youtube.com. Crash Course. March 24 2014. Website. Sep 19 2015.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jReX7qKU2yc.

This is my fifth and final citation. This is a youtube video that fully explains what
consciousness is, and all the gray area in between. It talks about neuroimaging, dual processing,
selective attention, and selective inattention. It talks about why things catch our eye and distract
us, and how we process things while in altered states.
I chose this video because I found that it was very informational, and easy to follow. The
video is kid friendly and visual learning. This video can give me information on hypnosis and
drug effects on the brain during consciousness and unconsciousness.
