Foroohar, R. (2014). Time to Talk About the I Word. Time, 183(5), 23.
In this article the commentator Rana Foroohar, gives her point of view about inequality
between the economic growth and unemployment and how it not only is a social issue,
but it is also a risk for the future of the U.S. economy. She also addressed the State of
Unions speech of President Obama regarding this issue, and why she thinks its not as
accurate as it appeared to be because of the tone of voice he used while giving it. I am
using this article to explain one cause of unemployment, which is inequality, and how it
can be diminished.

article to analyze how unemployment affects emotionally the health of the people from an
inside point of view, and also some of the advices Dale Maharidge provides from his
experience.

on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs United States Senate on examining the current
economic conditions facing young Americans, focusing on key areas of concern such as
unemployment, underemployment, and student debt. In here the Committee focused
about the problem college students face after they graduated. I am using this report to
show a section of the population that is affected by the problem of unemployment and
how it can relate to the community of El Paso.

Felter, M. (2012). Short- time Compensation: Is Germanys success with Kurzarbeit an answer to
U.S. Unemployment?. Boston College International & Comparative Law Review, 35(2),
481-509.
In this article the author, Megan Felter, compares the effects of the 2008- 2009 economic
crisis between United States and Germany, and the reason why unemployment did not
increase as much in Germany as it did in the United States. She analyzes the Kurzarbeit
program of the German government which allowed workers facing reduced hours due to
temporary instances of decreased demand to keep their jobs and received government
funds to partially supplement their diminished income. I am using this article to show a
solution that had been used already in another country and that can help improve the
economy in this country.
