Unit 3 Writing sentences.

Warm up:

Start the lesson by reviewing the unit vocab words that has been
introduced in the previous lesson.
Review the difference between there is and there are and the
prepositions that has been introduced in unit 2.

Practice
identifying rooms
and household
objects.

In pairs students will discuss and circle


the difference between the pictures in
page 20 (work book).
- Ask the students to form four sentences
using the word bank and starting the
sentence with there is and there are.
- Discuss and check the sentences that the
students have written.
- Then individually students will write
down four sentences starting with there
is or there are.
Assessment:
Assessing students writing skills and whether
they are able to use there is, there are and the
unit vocabulary.

Plenary:
Recap the lesson by asking the students to cut the pictures in page 97 (pupils
book) and stick them in page 30.

Week 5 lesson 1

Reflection:
A very successful lesson, I met all of my learning objectives and found out that
students work really effectively when they are paired with a partner. I can see a
development in the students writing skills, this is my fifth week with them and
my focus was on writing, listening and speaking because in their curriculum the

focus is mainly on the reading. Even better if I had scissors and glue in hand
because most of the students didnt have which wasted a lot of time.
I have taught the students a strategy which will help them differentiate between
there is and there are which was; is starts with an I and I is similar to number one
(1) therefor we only use is when we have one item. I was able to see that some
of the girls have written there is and then counted the items and rewrote the
sentence.
Next lessons focus:
-

More practice on no there isnt, no there arent, yes there is, yes there
are.
Speaking activity: Let the students present their project which is about the
house.
