"I love the way ArtPrize draws visitors to the

great city of Grand Rapids every fall... and this
year I'm especially delighted that Peter
Brandes' "Cornerstone Windows" (in the lobby
of the JW Marriott) are attracting visitors to see
the real stained glass windows in Christ Chapel
at Cornerstone. The chapel is open for tours on
weekdays from 3-7PM and weekends from
1:30-6PM until Sunday Oct. 11. Hey GR
friends, apart from the Cornerstone Windows,
what is your favorite ArtPrize entry? link to

SFTJ Devotional Video---Everyone
encounters unexpected interruptions
from time to time... but what do we do
when our plans are interrupted? I've
learned that God often brings
interruptions to give us an opportunity
to bless others... remember that God
might just have different plans for you
today!"

"Consistently, Scripture calls us to choose

character-driven leadership. In the story of
the ten talents, those who successfully
stewarded the master's estate were
rewarded with this character-affirming
declaration: "Well done, good and faithful
servant!" While outcomes are not
unimportant in the story, the affirmation is
about the character of the steward ("good
and faithful") and an affirmation about how
the steward leads as a "servant" (Matthew
25:14-30).

Cornerstone students having a good time last

"Leading as a follower means that nothing
competes with Jesus as the defining center
of our desires. In fact, with Jesus at the
center, we view all of leadership - its joys
and challenges - through the lens of who He
is and how we can lead to close the gap
between His style of leadership and ours."
How will you be a Christ-like leader in your
workplace?

Today I would encourage you to read 1

Corinthians 6:1920. Think about some of the
activities, hobbies, or pursuits that bring you
genuine joy in life. Thank God for the
opportunity to use the body and talents that
He has given you to enjoy these things!

"Real-deal Christianity is first and foremost

about a person, not about religious projects
or principles or even about building great
enterprises. Becoming a better Christian, not
to mention a better leader, means that I am
more in touch with, more like, and more
intimately surrendered to Jesus than I was
yesterday, last month, last year."

Is successful leadership measured simply by
the outcomes a leader achieves? Or is there
another yardstick for measuring success? I
would argue that truly successful leadership
is not defined by the standards of this world
but by the counter-intuitive practices and
perspectives of Christ. To be a great leader
one must first become a follower of the
greatest Leader who ever lived.
