A Biblical Worldview Has a Radical Effect on a Person's Life Barna. Barna, 1
December 2003. Web. 6 Nov 2015.
This article argues that having a biblical worldview completely changes
an individual
because that individual will have a significantly
different lifestyle than people who do
not hold a biblical worldview.
The author uses many statistics to emphasize how
different people
with biblical worldviews behave. The author is trying to convince
people to adopt a biblical view of the world by pointing out some of the
radical changes
that have occurred statistically. The intended
audience could be religious
anthropologists and Christians.
This article is important because it demonstrates how
Christians
behave through statistics.
USES: Statistics The numbers can help look for changes in my
primary research.
LIMITS: Statistics Numbers arent as reliable as personal testimonies.

Judaism. The Journal
of Religious Ethics 10.1 (1982): 144169. Web.
The paper compares the ethics on charity work of Judaism and
Christianity. It explains
that there are many similarities, but more
importantly, there are distinct minor
differences in both. The
author develops his argument by talking about the ethics of
each
religion and then talking about the similarities and differences. The purpose of this
paper is to analyze each religions take on charity and fully
compare the two. Since this
is a comparative study, the intended
audience is probably scholars who work in the field
of religion. This paper is
important because it gives an analysis on Christian charity.
USES: This paper discusses in depth, the meaning of charity from a
Christian perspective.

LIMITS: The meaning of charity is purely theology and does not

completely apply to a
modern individual.

Fagan, Patrick F. Why Religion Matters: The Impact of Religious Practice on Social
Stability. Heritage.
Heritage, 25 January 1996. Web. 6 November 2015.
Patrick Fagan has a Ph.D in Psychology and wrote this article to argue
that religion has a
large impact on social stability. To further this
argument, he writes about somethings
about what the
government should be doing and about how religion affects individuals
and families. His purpose in writing this text is to notify the government and
possibly the
citizens of the United States about changes that could be made
about religion.
Therefore the intended audience is probably
the government and citizens of the United
States. This article is
important because it talks about a few behavioral changes in
religious people and families.
USES: Talks about specific behavioral changes or benefits to religious
individuals.
LIMITS: Talks about religion in such a wide scale and primarily focuses
on the social
stability of the country.

Johnson, S. "The Congruence of the Philosophy of Rational Emotive Behavior
Therapy within the Philosophy of Mainstream Christianity." JOURNAL OF COGNITIVE
AND BEHAVIORAL PSYCHOTHERAPIES 6.1 (2006): 45-56. Web.
Steve Johnson is a psychotherapist and lecturer in English and
Philosophy. The main
argument in this paper is that the philosophy
of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy is
similar to the philosophy
of Christianity. Johnson develops his argument by first
explaining the basics of both philosophies and then focusing in on similar
points. Since
he focuses on the similarities, he wants to show his
readers that these two philosophies
really arent that different. This
paper is probably directed towards Christians and
Rational Emotive
Behavior Therapists. Since the author is also one of those therapists
and a philosopher, he can speak with authority. This paper is important

because it
focuses on the behavior of the individual and how they
begin to see themselves.
USES: A clear indication of what the philosophy of Christianity is all
about.
LIMITS: Speaks about the behavior of a Christian, but not necessarily in
a church setting.

Spearman, Danielle Renee. "The Impact of Christianity and God-Mediated Locus of

Control on Adolescent Risky Behaviors." Order No. 3222981 University of Hartford,
2006. Ann Arbor: ProQuest. Web. 6 Nov. 2015.
Danielle Renee Spearman has a doctorate degree in Psychology. This
paper was written
to argue that religion could be a key factor in
preventing adolescents from showing
risky behaviors. The argument
is developed by first defining multiple Christian
principles
and then revealing the research results. The purpose of this paper is to prove
that an adolescent can have reduced risky behavior if they develop
religious and
spiritual beliefs. The intended audience for this
paper is for psychologists since the
author is writing it partially for
her doctorate degree. This paper is important because it
gives many
examples of multiple adolescent behaviors that take on Christian beliefs.
USES: Talks about both religiosity and spirituality. Discerning the
difference can also be
helpful in my primary research
LIMITS: Age range of the research sample Research on adults would
have been more
helpful to my research.

Stepick, Alex, Rey, Terry, and Mahler, Sarah J., eds. Churches and Charity in the
Immigrant City : Religion, Immigration, and Civic Engagement in Miami. New

Brunswick, NJ, USA: Rutgers University Press,

November 2015.

2009. ProQuest ebrary. Web. 4

Alex Stepick is a professor of anthropology and sociology, Terry Rey is

an associate
professor and chair of religion at Temple University,
and Sarah Mahler is an associate
professor of sociology and
anthropology. Together they wrote a book called Churches
and
Charity in the Immigrant City to demonstrate how greatly religion affects the
immigrant and minority groups of Miami. In the part Im focusing on,
they reference
testimonies from individuals that were completely
changed after experiencing God and
attending church. By using
testimonies, the readers are able to sometimes relate to the
problems that some people are experiencing. The authors are trying to
understand and
analyze what sort of impact religion has had on
different minority groups. This book is
written for anyone who is
interested in the sociology of religion in minority groups. It
seems like
the authors are not actually apart of the groups, but are merely observing
and researching them. This research is important because humans
should understand
how religion develops in a world where religion will
always exist.
USES: Testimonies The authors reference multiple testimonies that
can be useful to
my research.
LIMITS: The group they are researching is quite different from the
group Im primarily
used to researching.

that can
influence morality which is Christian beliefs. The audience for this paper is

Vo, Charity Samantha. "Gratitude: Duty, Virtue, and Practice." Social Work and
Christianity 41.2 (2014): 175-91. ProQuest. Web. 5 Nov. 2015.
Charity Samantha Vo is an assistant professor at a Christian college
called Baylor
University. The paper argues that adopting
gratitude as a virtue will allow an individual
to take on an
inspirational lifestyle. The author develops her argument by writing about
her experience in the Peace Corps. By referencing her own experiences
she can speak
with authority on the subject about how adopting
gratitude as a virtue changed her life.
The main point of her paper is
to show the readers that being generous can completely
change your
lifestyle as well as others. In her case, she began to become more positive
after realizing how generous her neighbors were being to her during
her service. This
paper is directed towards people that practice
social work. It examines ways in which
gratitude may strengthen
attitudes great for the field. The author is able to speak with
authority on the subject because she is speaking of her own experience. This
paper is
important because it demonstrates how a persons
behavior changes when they take on
a common Christian attitude.
USES: Gratitude from different perspectives She explains gratitude
from multiple
perspectives so it gives me a broader
understanding of the concept.
LIMITS: Her experience doesnt come from going to church but instead
comes from a
generous community.
KEY WORDS: Gratitude
