I never known that technology could be so interesting because there is so much of it in the world
today. Typically, as a young kid, I just pick up a game and play it. But, I never actually thought
about what it takes to make a simple childs game. As I grew up, I am more intrigued in
machines and how stuff works. Having the knowledge to dissect and understand what it takes to
create these complicated creations is something I am trying to get myself to be there. I really
love math and science because I can focus heavily and its not the same everyday which catches
my attention more than a book will do.

Throughout my time in high school, I made the decision to try to get into an engineering school
that can help me achieve my goal and be an engineer. I only cared about thinking about the
salary an engineer will make and as a teenager, I know engineers make a whole lot of money and
that is the career for me to do because I am doing something I love to do and getting paid well
for it. The way that my team and I work is specialty by itself. We are together so much that, we
are practically a family when it comes to robotics because its all a passion that we all share.
Everybody is very passionate about sciences and innovation of technology. Either it is in the lab

actually building hands on or together somewhere playing Minecraft building random crap,
creativity is what all we share.

Now in college, I am this much closer in achieving my ultimate goal in becoming a professional
license engineer but I know that road to get there is going to be rough and stressful. And I know
this is what I enroll here at UNC Charlotte to do. Looking at my specific course curriculum, the
classes and pre-reqs that I have to take before I can really get into my major, I kid you not I
almost fainted. I did know what statics, different equations, applied mechanics were. I just knew
that I was in for a ride. The more the year goes on, the more I see people who share the same
major as me and they are telling me this course is so easy or youll never get this. The more I
kept hearing it, the more I believe it. They think theyre some kind of magical wizard that can be
gifted in anything. I hate those type of people. But, I find it weird that all the English class I
take, they are the ones to really help me understand why I am here at UNC Charlotte in the first
place. These creative writing challenges help me understand deeply how I can create something
really bizarre and relay it back to something that I can really be interested to write about for the
remainder of the class semester. Sometimes I go back to previous Moodle assignments and see
what I wrote about back then to help with assignments now to help organize my thought process.

Then I found this section I wrote for a previous section that really help motivate me to continue
to do engineering. It reads,
As I sit down and think about how good the past was, I can make the future even better if I
figure out the best way to connect what I believe in and to express how passionate I am about this subject

that I can go out and convince more people to feel the same way Engineering for me, especially me

being an African American male, is a big window of opportunity that most people are given I am so

close in achieving that goal in being a licensed engineer that I dont know why it cant come any sooner

And from that moment I knew that I need to do well because its not only me who believes I can
do this but I got friends and family as well who are invested in me as well and believes I can do
well and knows I am capable of achieving greatness.

This creative challenge is related to my inquiry project by relating the typical day and lifestyle of
whats like to be an engineering major and how why my passion in life is so hard to attain right now
with the drama going on in every day living.

"Get yo' ass up"

"Junnnnnniooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrr". (Sound) That was all I could hear at the time. Sounds like a
screeching dolphin breaching the water when it wants attention from either its mate or a human
companion. But bad thing for me is that, I am not near any of that. I am currently laying in bed
dreading waking up and trying to push the amount of sleep I can get before my beautiful LOUD
mother keeps calling my name in the morning. Then I can hear footsteps coming down the hall, and
it was very distinguishable who that was coming. So me being me, nervous and shit (nervous), I
hopped my ass out of bed and act like I was getting dressed.
She barged through the room and look to see if I was actually up. With a look of
disappointment in her searching, I continue to do my daily routine of getting ready for the morning. I
hop in the shower and all I can do there is stand there and think. I don't know what it is about it, but
all I could do is think about what work I have to do this week, when I got finish that paper deadline, or
when my robotics team is going to meet up about that project we discuss on doing. Time can really
go past when you are in a nice hot shower. The feeling is so good, I can truly smell the body wash
(texture) I put on and i feel my skin and its really smooth (texture).
As I am about to go out the door, so I can head down the road for school, I put the key in
the ignition block and I was totally amazed of what I saw. I was like, "Damn, ain't this a bitch! My car
had barely enough gas to make it there." And what made that day even worst. My hands were so
damn white because I forgot to put lotion on. How the hell do I forget to put lotion on?!? My hands
were so damn cracked and white, I had to put some gloves on. Even though its spring, Hell no I am
not letting someone roast my ass because my hands looked like Michael Jackson. Not today.
