Today the students will be able to: Discuss prior
knowledge of sharks. Examine the text to formulate
questions. Recognize the facts in the article. And
finally summarize what they learn. (laying out
everything we know about a topic, asking questions
+ searching for answers, and reflecting on what we
learned)
How will you link the new materials to prior learning? I will
link this lesson with the other two units we did on nonfiction
and use similar strategies like stopping at certain points
when I read to discuss. I will also link it to my KWL chart I
made with them in the past

What will students do? Were going to read Great White
Sharks as a class and then the students will do group work
and create a KWL chart.

How are you going to teach this lesson? Im first going to
read the article, then the students are going to work in
groups or partners to complete a KWL chart that I give
them, and then they will present in groups.
What instructional strategies will you use? I will use the
zero rule and they will work with their assigned reading
groups.
How will you summarize and check for understanding? I will
know if the students understand the lesson when I grade
their worksheets, and if there are any questions of confusion
