Kristin Pokorny September 3, 2015 Teac 315~ Science Scratch Water Cycle Lesson Plan Related to Standards: ‘Specific Learning Objective: condensation, Water Cycle - Students will learn about the three stages of the water cycle (evaporation, precipitation) Materials: Water Pot lid Stove (heat) Student Activity (Lesson): ‘Students will make predictions about what will happen to the water as it heats up. Students will watch as the teacher puts water into a pot and then heats the water up. AAs the water heats up the students will notice that it evaporates. The teacher will hold the lid high enough above the pot that the students can see that the water is rising out of the pot (evaporation). Students will draw what they see. Soon, the students will see that the water is collecting in little beads on the lid (condensation). Students will draw what they see. ‘As the beads of water get bigger the water droplets will drop back into the pan (precipitation). Students will draw what they see After the water droplets begin falling back into the pan, allow students to take turns coming up and observing the water cycle. ‘As the teacher and students discuss the water cycle, students will label each of their three drawings with the appropriate stage (evaporation, condensation, or precipitation). Students my stick their hand an appropriate (given) distance above the pot. By doing this, students will be able to feel the water as it evaporates and condenses on their hand. Assessment: Teacher will assess the lesson’s objective by observing discussion and checking the student’s science notebooks. All three stages must be properly labeled.
