OCTOBER HIGHLIGHTS
W h i t e Wa t e r R a f t i n g a n d A s h e v i l l e H i k e
On October 10-13, Elon Outdoors traveled to Oak
H i l l , We s t V i r g i n i a f o r W h i t e Wa t e r r a f t i n g ! T h i s t r i p w a s
one of Elon Outdoors multiple adventures they offer to
s t u d e n t s t h r o u g h o u t t h e y e a r. T w o w e e k s l a t e r, f r o m
October 24-25, Elon Outdoors hosted another excursion
hiking in Asheville, North Carolina. In addition to these
trips, Elon Outdoors also rents out camping equipment
for anyone wishing to explore on their own time. The
Outdoors Resource Room can be reached at 336-278-2267.

Club and Intramural Sports

Night Golf
On October 25 from 8-10pm, our South Campus Driving
Range offered a free night of golf under the lights!
Participants were given unlimited golf balls, and music
was played throughout the event. The Driving Range is
open to all members of Elon who possess a valid phoenix
card, during hours Monday-Sunday from 2-7pm! Small,
medium, and large buckets are only $3,00 $4.50, and
$ 6 . 0 0 a c c o rd i n g l y . We a r e n o w a l s o o f f e r i n g a s p e c i a l
for members to join our Hitters Club, with which one
can buy five buckets and get the sixth one free!

On October 25th, Mens Club Soccer pulled out a


m a j o r w i n a g a i n s t Wa k e F o r e s t , s e c u r i n g t h e i r s p o t a t
regionals for the second year in a row! With a 7-2-1
record, the team is thrilled with the opportunity to
compete in Florida October 30th-November 1st.
October also ended the seasons for intramural 7v7 Flag
F o o t b a l l , Vo l l e y b a l l , a n d C o r n H o l e ! P h o t o s o f w i n n i n g

Colleges Against Cancer teamed up with Campus
Recreation to host their annual TriathELON on October
25th! Participants signed up to bike, swim, and run
around campus, and all of the proceeds benefitted the
American Cancer Society. This was one of Colleges
Against Cancers many events, which raise money and
a w a r e n e s s t h r o u g h o u t t h e y e a r. P a i n t t h e C a m p u s P u r p l e

Participants have until November 19th to make it to


their goal destination!! Anyone can still sign up, and
choose a Florida destination of their choice:

Ta m p a : 6 6 9 m i l e s , We s t P a l m B e a c h : 7 5 8 m i l e s , M i a m i :
818 miles. One mile is shortened to one pool length,
so participants must swim a total of their chosen
locations distance. Those who complete their goals
within the month long challenge will win a prize, but
you have to swim the full distance to win!

TURKEY TROT
On November 6th we our holding our 24th Annual
Tu r k e y Tr o t ! T h i s f u n 5 K i s n o t o n l y a l o n g - s t a n d i n g
Elon tradition, but also goes to a great cause. The
entry fee is two canned goods, which will be donated to
the Allied Churches of Alamance County. The race is
open to runners of all levels and abilities, and Jones
Racing Company will time all participants. Prizes will
be awarded to the top three finishers in each division,
which includes male students, female students, male
faculty/staff and female faculty/staff. The first 200
people to register will receive a free t-shirt, so
register today at the Koury front desk!
