BODY

In this class, students will

work to complete their onepage story and illustration.
The teacher will observe and
facilitate during the lesson,
helping where needed.
The teacher will also
formatively check-in with
students while they are
working, asking students to
share what they have so far.
The students are also
encouraged to share with
their neighbour during this
activity

TRANSITION

Alright class! Two minuets

to put your finishing touches
on and then hand in your
story!

CLOSURE

Today we completed our

own stories on the letters of
the alphabet. What do you
think of your own story?
Was it fun to write? What did
you think of your
neighbours story?

Why do we use
descriptive words
during a story?
Do you think this
makes the story more
interesting?
Would you use any
words from Once Upon
an Alphabet?
What is your story
about?
Can you tell me about
your illustration?
Did you notice anyone
else who had a similar
story to yours?

Next lesson we will read our

class story together!

work on their assignment,

demonstrating ways they
can tell/express their own
experiences, likes and/or
dislikes in the form of a onepage story which they will
print and illustrate.
The students will also be
able to move around,
sharing their ideas with
others.
-Observation during activity
-Class discussion;
vocabulary
-Writing their own story;
moving around the room
doing check-ins with
students

By writing their own story,

as well as illustrating it, the
students are able to connect
their prior knowledge to the
lesson and also express
their own thoughts, feelings
and experiences with the
rest of the class.
This way they are able to
share their experiences with
the class orally, as well as in
the form of a book (written
and illustrated)

NOTES:

story for a specific letter of

the alphabet.
TSW tell their own story for
their letter.

during vocabulary check-ins
-Having students explain
