1 WEB TASK II
1.1 Website survey and analysis
1.1.1 Bank of Sierra Leone
http://www.bsl.gov.sl/

Prior to the establishment of the BANK OF SIERRA LEONE, the West Africa Currency Board
was responsible for the issue of currency in Sierra Leone. It was obliged to buy and sell the
currency it had issued, the West African Pound, at fixed rates against the Sterling in London.
Following the attainment of independence in 1961 however, the need was felt for a separate
monetary institution controlled by Sierra Leone. In his 1962/63 Budget Speech, the then
Minister of Finance asserted, "No independent country can regard itself as truly independent
until it has its own national currency. The time is not too distant when Sierra Leone too will
have its own central bank". (Bank of Sierra Leone, n.d.)

Website Evaluation
1.1.1.1 Content
With regard to content on the site of Bank of Sierra Leone all the information you find on the
site is relevant to the subject. Companies as well as individuals can find information on the
currency (Leones), latest changes made to it, monetary policies, exchange rates, contact
details of the bank and its branches. The site contains external links to other international
financial institutions such as the IMF, World Bank etc. Annual reports and statements of
accounts for each book year is also made available to the public. All links and documents are
accessible whereas for the two other sites below NASSIT and the MoFED when you click on
the links you get error messages.
1.1.1.2 Functionality
This is probably the least functional and attractive. For each tab you click on, it opens in a
new different tab. Then you get a list of documents or links that you in turn have to click on
again before getting on the page with the information you searching for. The site is very
chaotic and there are just too many tabs. Normally it should be a one click and straight
forward process.
1.1.1.3 Authority
The authority for the site is The Bank of Sierra Leone itself.
1.1.1.4 Attractiveness
From the three sites compared, the Website of the Bank of Sierra Leone is the least
attractive. The colours are not consolidating and the content is not nicely presented. There
are lot of unnecessary tabs and the sidebars are not well structured.
Exchange rates that you find on the right hand side is very unprofessionally presented and
not up-to-date.

1.1.2 NASSIT
http://nassitsl.org/

The National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) is a Statutory Public Trust charged
with the administration of Sierra Leones National Pension Scheme. The primary
responsibility is the part replacement of income lost as a result of the contingencies of old
age, invalidity and death. (NASSIT Republic of Sierra Leone, n.d.)

Website Evaluation
1.1.2.1 Content
The content on the particular site is very interesting and very useful to the population of the
country. One thing I like about it as well is the external links the site provides is also
beneficial. All the contents are subject related and is thoroughly explained and presented. On
the front page, youre presented with the recent news as well as some quick links to e.g.
social security forms as well reports and annual accounts.
One of the downside of the site is that when you click on a certain report and account from a
given year, nothing happens. In order to get the report you have to navigate to another tab
facts and figures there you find all the reports. The social media icons on the site are all
inactive; which I find not proficient.
1.1.2.2 Functionality
NASSIT has the most functional site among the three. The website is well structured and you
find all youre looking for under one umbrella. If you click on the tab benefits, you get all the
benefits the types of benefits that organisation offers. The use of colours is minimal and
logical. Information is presented in a consistent order. You dont need to click on ten
different tabs before attaining what youre looking for. Theres a search button to look for
information more quickly.
1.1.2.3 Authority
NASSIT is the author of all the contents available on the site so it basically holds full authority.
1.1.2.4 Attractiveness
From my point of view, NASSIT is more attractive than all the other sites. Their use of colours
is really good and to the point.

1.1.3 The Ministry of Finance and Economic Development

http://mofed.gov.sl/aboutus.htm

The Ministry of Finance and Economic Development is a Key arm of the Government of Sierra
Leone mandated to formulate and implement sound economic policies and public financial
management, ensure efficient allocation of public resources to promote stable economic
growth and development in the context of a stable macroeconomic environment. (The
Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, 2013)

Website Evaluation
1.1.3.1 Content
This website contains all the information that you will require from the ministry of finance
and economic development of the country. As of the other site, this one also provides links to
many external financial and economic sites that could be valuable to companies and
individuals. On the site you can find articles and reports on the ministry and it bodies,
development projects finalised and ongoing, the yearly budget as well as the ministrys
expenditure. However, there some contents that dont fully function. The social media link
are inactive. Another important content you can find on there is their contact details.
1.1.3.2 Functionality
To say from the three sites compared; the MoFED is functional but not complete. The use of
a drop down menu for the tab is good and give the site a more structured look and makes it
easier to use. Everything you need can be found under on tab and you dont have to click and
open ten different tabs like in the case of the website of the Bank of Sierra Leone to get to
what youre searching for.
1.1.3.3 Authority
Likewise the previous two websites, this one also has absolute authority to all the contents
available on the site.
1.1.3.4 Attractiveness
In comparison to the other two, the website of the Ministry of Finance and Economic
Development is in the second place for attractiveness. First goes to NASSIT and the site with
that is the least attractive is Bank of Sierra Leone.

Website Evaluation
1.1.4 Fernbusliniensuche.de
The first website I chose Fernbusliniensuche.de, a German website where you can compare
all trips of long distance bus companies for a special date. Especially in the last years, the
trend of travelling by busses even for longer distances increased extremely. Mostly, due to
the reason that going by train is in most cases very expensive (especially in Germany), flights
are expensive as well and not ecological for shorter distances and going by car is for the
driver physical and psychological exhausting. Therefore, two German brothers set up some
years ago the bus company mein fernbus, offering people bus trips to many destinations
for a low price. This developed fast and got very successful, first in Germany, then also in
other European countries. Now, there are several bus companies existing, which you can
compare on this website.
1.1.4.1 Content
The website does not only contain information of all kind of possible trips for a special day,
you can also see them compared to going by train as well as going by car (BlaBlaCar). It shows
you all possible bus trips available, as well as the bus company, the price, how often you have
to change, start and ending point and even more. Further on, you can get information about
all the bus companies (postbus, flixbus, megabus,..), like contact information etc. Another
positive aspect of the website is the map, where you can see all possible destinations and
stops of the busses. Finally, there is a blog and a newsgroup where people can exchange their
experiences they have made when going by one of the bus companies.
1.1.4.2 Functionality
The functionality of this website is in my opinion very simple but effective. When you are on
the home page, you see in the center the big search bar, the heart of the website. There
you can choose you start point (type it in or choose from a list), end point and the date. You
can also decide if you want to see BlaBlaCar in comparison to that (tick it) or not (do not tick
it). You can also define further search criteria like the bus company, the number of persons
travelling and even more. Then you click on the search button and it shows you after some
seconds all results. Unfortunately, sometimes it takes quite long until all results are loaded.
You can also let the results being sorted according to price, duration, start and arrival time.
Then you can filter your results, setting for example a maximum price or limiting the start or
arrival time. When you like one result, you can click on the button and it directs you directly
to the website of the bus company that offers the special trip. Another positive aspect is that
you can easily click on the next day to see the results for the following day or as well the
previous day to see whether it is cheaper or the bus starts/arrives at a better time. The
website is available in seven languages and you can choose between four different
currencies. Finally, the website is also available in a mobile version and as an app for android
and apple devices.
1.1.4.3 Authority
The authority of this website is quite unbalanced, on one hand, everything is clear, you see
the copyright signs as well as it is said that all rights are reserved. Further on as a customer
you can see you rights and reviews of other customers. Unfortunately, you can to find any
information about the website creator or the websites legality.

1.1.4.4 Attractiveness
To me, the website is very attractive, as is has a simple design but nice colors. It is just the
right mass of information, not too much, not too less. All social media channels are linked
and the simplicity and the effect how the search function of this website works makes it very
interesting to me.

Website Evaluation
1.1.5 Joeys Pizza
Joeys Pizza is a German food delivery company with its focus on pizza, but offering also a
broader range like pasta, sandwiches and even desserts. Joeys.de is the website where you
can order your food online. You will see a product catalogue with all the food, nice pictures, a
description with all ingredients and the price. When choosing one, you can add it to your
shopping cart. In my opinion, you can find all necessary content of this website, but it does
not seem to differ from other pizza delivery website.
1.1.5.1 Functionality
The website has several functions like you first have to type in your postal code or address to
find the right pizza store. Then you find a menu with several categories like pizza and pasta,
where you can click on. The products are organized in a slideshow which looks very
innovative to me. Unfortunately is takes time to scroll through the slideshow and find your
right pizza. Further on, sometimes it is annoying to move the mouse all the time to one side
to see all the products. When you click on one product you can easily add it to your shopping
cart, which is situated in the top right corner. When you click on it you see all the products
you want to buy, as well as the total sum. Then you can choose your address and the time of
the delivery. For paying, you have the choice between many systems like PayPal, cash, credit
card and so on, which I think makes it very convenient for the customer.
1.1.5.2 Authority
The authority aspect of this website seems very positive to me. All necessary information
about the company like contact name, the CEO, register number and so on can be found very
easy. There is also a category about quality, which is very trust and confidence building.
Finally, there are several subpages providing information about the imprint, copyright and
the data security. The last one is for me as a customer highly important as I want to be sure
that my data (like the address and my name) are safe.
1.1.5.3 Attractiveness
The design of this website is extremely attractive to me, but maybe mostly due to the fact
that it is about pizza (haha). The website is quite colorful but not too much, just in the right
amount (for my taste). Additionally, there are many nice photos of the products like pizza,
which looks really delicious and brings you in the mood to order even more food. The design
changes quite often over the year, currently they use a Christmas template and the colours
red and green. This attracts all kind of customers and gives a nice Christmas touch to the
website. Finally, the website has a clear structure of the pages and makes it quite easy for the
customer to find the right food.

Website Evaluation
1.1.6 Sparkasse Chemnitz
Sparkasse Chemnitz is a German bank, located in Chemnitz, a small city in the eastern part.
1.1.6.1 Content
The website of this bank provides all kind of information necessary when being a customer of
this bank or even just interested in becoming one. You find many information about the
different locations, bank accounts, and more. You can also log in with your data and do online
banking like transactions. Finally, the website offers a customer service and contact
information and also has a help sections when you are in trouble.
1.1.6.2 Functionality
The most important functions such as logging in with your bank account and PIN and doing
online banking works very well. For transactions, you get a TAN via SMS. What I do not like
about the website, are the sidebars which tend to be quite confusing, as you have so many
subpages and you are sometimes getting really irritated and even annoyed when searching a
special subpage.
1.1.6.3 Authority
Concerning the authority, the website is highly secure, but of course this is a must for a bank
website. Data security, imprint, as well as terms and conditions are easy to find and explained
in detail. You can also find all kind of contact information. In addition to that, you can find the
little lock icon in before the website link, to tell the customer that he can trust this website.
1.1.6.4 Attractiveness
The design of the website is quite simple and minimalistic. They used red, white and grey,
the official colors of the bank what makes it easier for the customer to realize that this is the
website of his or her bank.
In my opinion, this is sometimes a little bit too simple, as there are not many pictures and
everything looks very content based and boring.
