Case # 6

Diagnosis and Explanation

Conversion disorder: We concluded this because Frank has had many medical and
neurological work-ups by local physicians as well as by specialists at Rochester, Cleveland,
Baltimore, and Boston. It stated that many medical treatments were tried but they had no
response. We think that Frank might not have been physically injured. Franks emotional
difficulty turned into a loss of the function in his arm.
Behavioral Therapies
Frank can use relaxation techniques to reduce stress and anxiety levels. Possible techniques
are deep breathing, meditation, rhythmic exercises, and yoga.
Cognitive Therapies
Counseling can be used to determine the underlying mental cause of Franks disorder. It can
also be used to prevent symptoms from reoccurring.
Group Therapies
Support groups can show Frank that he isnt alone. Patients can work together to overcome
their issues.
Biological Treatments
If underlying stress, anxiety, or depression is causing Franks symptoms then an antidepressant
or antianxiety drug may be beneficial. Physical therapy may help with any muscle
tightness/weakness and prevent complications caused by the conversion disorder.

Case # 8
Diagnosis and Explanation

Paranoid Schizophrenia: We concluded that Beth is diagnosed with Paranoid

Schizophrenia. We think this because Beth is convinced that she sees people watching
her and that they are after her. The hallucinations are a sign of delusion. She believes
that almost all of the students in her school are brainwashed and is paranoid that she
will be next.
Behavioral Therapies
Relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, and yoga can help reduce stress
and anxiety brought on by delusions. There are also rehabilitation programs that focus on social
and vocational training.
Cognitive Therapies
Individual counseling sessions can help patients learn how to cope with stress and teach them
how to identify the warning signs of a relapse.
Group Therapies
Group therapy can show Beth that she isnt alone in her situation. It will also help improve her
social and communication skills.
Biological Treatments
Antipsychotic medications can be used to help control her delusions.

Case #40

Diagnosis and Explanations

I believe that Simba have Generalized Anxiety Disorder. The reason why I feel that he has
generalized anxiety disorder because he have same symptoms that people with Generalized
Anxiety disorder. The symptoms of Generalized Anxiety disorders are panicking, feeling tense

always and repeating going over thoughts.

Behavioral Therapies
There are no particular reason why Simba is feeling tense and uneasied a lot. It could be bad
habbits that he have in his life.Behavioral therapies are meant to help people turn bad habits
into good one. Behavioral therapies also helps people cope with difficult situations and Simba is
a situation where he is feeling tense and uneasied and does not know why it is happening.
Cognitive Therapies
Cognitive therapy would be good for Simba. Cognitive therapy is meant to help people focus on
on present thinking, behavior, communication rather than having a person think on past
problems. Also cognitive therapy oriented towards problem solving.Since Simba is really getting
tense and constantly feeling uneasied and doesnt know why. If Simba would go to cognitive
therapy they will help figure out why he always feeling so tense and uneasied.
Group Therapies
Group therapies could help simba in many ways.Group therapies are meant to help people
relive stress and depression and speak outloud. He may also be able to relate to people who
are dealing with similar behavior that he is dealing with and they can support each other, come
up with ways they deal with the problems they are having and also not feel left out.
Biological Treatments
Doctors usually provide people with Generalized Anxiety Disorders with
Valium, alprazolam,Ativan. These drugs are strong drugs to be using they help reduce panic
attack and people being stress and feeling uneasied. I think if Simba was prescribe one these
drugs it will relieve him from being tense and uneasied all the time.
