Diary for my project in Unit 60 & 1 assignment 3

13/10/15:

Aim Today I have logged in, checked my emails, looked at my Assignment brief, updated
my ILP, finished Director training and I am now going to start creating my project by loading
up Director. Then Im going to set the stage size as 640 by 480.

Evidence The evidence below shows that I have finished off my director training and
have published it as an example.

Firstly I to start my project off I have set my stage size to 640 by 480 by clicking on Movie
and changing the sizes. I have then changed my tools from default to classic in order for my
buttons to work successfully. I am now going to add a background colour to my project, to
do this I am going to go into property inspector, into movie and select the mini arrow on
the colour to change it. For my project I have made my background a light blue colour. I
have decided to change the background slightly from my storyboards and Im not going to
include the darker blue corners.

Next I am going to import my images that I will need for my project so that I can access
them easily. To do this I am going to click on file and import. It will then come up with a
window where you can find the files which are already saved and I then clicked on my
images and selected add. When I finished adding all my images, sounds and videos, I
clicked import and ok. My internal cast list now looks like the image below.

Learnt In todays session I have learnt how to create a close button, add scrolling text
and how to publish my project. I have also managed to import my images so that they
appear on the internal cast list.
14/10/15:

Aim Im going to check the assignment brief, check my emails and make sure my ILP is up
to date. I will then continue starting my project, I will start with the splash screen.

Evidence Now I am going to start adding my title and logo to my opening page. As I go
along I am renaming my cast so that I know what everything is and I am also going to keep
my sprite, on each page the same length. Firstly I am going to add my logo onto the page by
importing it, then dragging and dropping it onto the outer part of the stage. I will make sure
it flys down in the left hand side of the stage. I have changed the size of my stage to 50% so
that I can work off stage as well as on stage. To make my image come down on the page I
have selected it and dragged the blue dot in the centre of the image to position it where I
want it to land.

I then added my title text which will come in from the left hand side, along with my enter
button which will just appear. I am now going to make my ENTER button so that when I click
on it, it will take me to my contents page. To make my enter button do this certain function I
have gone into library, and selected go to the frame X Button and typed in the number
from my timeline in which you will find my contents page. I have found a red cloud image
which I am going to crop in Photoshop so its only half of a cloud then add it over my ENTER
button.

Starting on my contents page I have imported the logo image again and got it coming in
from the left hand side. I did the same as I did above of dragging and dropping the image on
to the screen and then selecting it to move the blue dot. I have then added a contents title
but adding a normal text box onto the top of my screen and imported 3 arrow button
images taken from the internet. First of all I got rid of the white background from the arrows
either using Photoshop or by clicking background transparent in the property inspector. I
am now going to add the title of each category. Before I add them I will make sure the word
images have a transparent background so that it doesnt have a white background over the
arrows. Although for my leisure word I couldnt remove the background.

Learnt Today I have learnt how to crop the background colours from images in
Photoshop and how to make images have a transparent background in Director. I have also
learnt how to make my enter button take me to the contents page.
14/10/15:

Aim - Im going to check the assignment brief, check my emails and make sure my ILP is up
to date. I will then continue with my project.

Evidence I am now going to add a close button which will be able to immediately close
the product down. I will also add images to my contents page, using a grid on my work so
that I can line up and make sure they are all the same size. I will do this by dragging and
dropping them onto the screen and resizing them to fit on the page.

I have now started on making my Thing pages and will add my navigation and scripting at
the end to make my life easier.

When making my pages I have to keep modifying my text so that I can change the colour,
size and font so that it meets my client needs and my specifications. Each one of my pages is
going to be made in the same way because they will have the same scripting and layout. To
make my pages I have inserted a text box to write the title, added my navigation buttons by
dragging and dropping them in from my cast list and dragged my images onto the screen. I
then added my content information boxes including one which is scrolling.

Learnt - I have learnt how to modify my text and how to keep my layout the same. Also
how to add images from my cast list.
15/10/15:

Aim Login in and check emails, get my folder/brief, have a look at the Director booklet,
update source doc/ILP, complete milestones, continue with my diary and fill in testing table.

Evidence I have started to make my sub contents page for my extreme activities. I have
started these now so that I can link contents page to each category page.On my storyboards
I said that I would add a border around my images but Im not going to do this anymore as
there would be too much colour. To do this I have dragged in my title image from my cast
list and made it bigger and added my navigation buttons to the top right hand side. I have
then made an image which can be clicked on for more information for each of my extreme
activitys. I will make my adventure and leisure pages in the same way.

I am going to continue making my pages in a similar way to above. I have done this by
adding my buttons and assets which I have collected beforehand. I have also resized stuff
using a grid so it all lines up, making my presentation look more professional.

Learnt Today in the lesson I have managed to make a sub contents page for extreme and
have added some navigation to it. I have also learnt how to line my assets up on the pages
using a grid.
19/10/15:

Aim - Today I have logged in, checked my emails, looked at my Assignment brief, updated
my ILP and am going to try and continue making my pages.

Evidence I am now going to add more transitions and navigation into my product. In
order to do this I have to drag and drop a control from the library which says Go to the
Frame XButton then it will come up with a box and you type in which place on the timeline
you want the page to move to. I will do this for all my navigation buttons and my activity
buttons.

I am also completing my sub contents pages with the correct images and captions. At the
end of each pages sprite I am going to add a go to the Frame script, so that my product
doesnt continually run throughout.

Im now going to make my close button work, to do this I have to right click on it, select
script and type in quit with no capitals as shown below:

Learnt Today I have learnt how to add scripting to my close button so that it can close my
product down. I have also added scripting to my home buttons on my sub contents pages.
19/10/15:

Aim In todays session I am going to login in, check my emails, collect my brief, update my
ILP, and continue to work on my project/diary/testing table.

Evidence - Today I am continuing to make my thing pages for my leisure category. To do


this I am copying and pasting my home, forward/back and close buttons from the timeline
so that they appear on all the pages.

When I add my title text or contents text on to my page but it appears with a white
background so I have to change it to background transparent. To do this I select the text box
and go onto property inspector, then onto sprite, ink and select the correct one.

I have also programmed my forward and back arrow buttons on my sub contents pages so
that they can go back and forth between each one. I did this by dragging and dropping the
go to the frame XButton onto them and typing in the correct number from the timeline. I
am going to use the same process to make each pages arrows work as well.

Learnt In todays lesson I have learnt how to script my navigation buttons so that they
work well and make my product run smoothly. This means I can now flick through my sub
contents pages without select the right place on my timeline.
19/10/15:

Aim Login in and check my emails, check the brief, continue with my diary and testing
table and carry on with my project.

Evidence Today I am going to continue with my project by adding some more of my


assets to each of my thing page as I have done before above. To do this I will need to create
text boxes with background transparency and drag and drop my images in. Firstly I need to
check that my tool bar on the left hand side is set to classic.
I am also going to add my two videos with controls. To start with I will drag and drop my
videos from the cast list onto my screen. To do this I have to go to the library, look under
media, then quick time and drag and drop the Quick Time Control Button onto each of
my three buttons and select the correct command for each button, e.g. play, rewind or stop.
I have also paused the video so that it doesnt start straightaway.

Learnt - In this lesson I have learnt how to add video controls so that the user can play and
stop the video when they want.
20/10/15:

Aim Login and check emails, check the brief, continue with my diary and testing table and
carry on with my project.

Evidence I am going to finish off adding my assets to my pages so that each page has two
images or (one image and a video), information and some facts. Im going to add transitions

so that there is movement on my pages. To do this I am just going to drag the


images/button offstage and use the little dot in the middle to create a pathway in which it
can follow to come onto the stage.

Learnt I have learnt how to insert images and change the size of them with a grid so that
they all line up and are more of less the same size.
21/10/15:

Aim Login in and check for any new emails, get my assignment 3 brief, continue with my
diary/testing table/ILP.

Evidence Im also going to make my button images for each activity into rollovers, which
I didnt specify on my storyboards. To do this I am going to go into library, animation and
then interactive. Then I will then drag and drop the rollover member change control onto
my images on the sub contents pages. It will come up with a box where I can select the
image I want it to rollover too.

I am also going to add sound control images onto my opening screen which will be scripted
to do a certain function. Firstly I will drag and drop my sound clip onto the top scripting bar
so that the controls can be used to play and stop the music whenever the user doesnt want
it. Then I have gone into library, under media and clicked on the sound folder. After this I
dragged and dropped the play sound sprite onto my volume control button, changing the
loop to 0 so that it plays throughout the whole project. I will do the same for the mute
button but will drag the stop sound sprite on to the other mute volume button.

Learnt Today I have learnt how to add sound controls and make my music track play
throughout my product. I have also learnt how a rollover works.
21/10/15:

Aim- Today I have logged in, checked my emails, looked at my Assignment brief, updated
my ILP and continued with my project.

Evidence - Im going to continue finishing my transitions. I am also going to add my two


cycle animations, to do this I am going to go into animation, automatic and select cycle
graphics. It will come up with a box in which I will select the group of images that I want in
the animation and then I will click okay. First of all I will need to make sure that all my
images I want in the animation are together in my cast list.

Learnt I have learnt how to add transitions so that my product has things moving on and
off the screen. I then learnt how to do a cycle graphics animation.
23/10/15:

Aim- To check my storyboards to see whether each of my effects/transitions is shown in


the product and continue checking my product. I am also going to write below what I have
changed in my product from the story boards.

Evidence I have slightly changed my effects from my multimedia products storyboards


so that my product runs smoother. I have decided to bring my title in from the side instead
of it fading in. However my enter button will still just appear on the screen. My background
corners arent going to be dark blue anymore as I wanted to keep it simple and there are
too many buttons in the way to have the corners shaded.

No borders around
my images.

My images wont have borders as when I put a border around my two images it made the
images look too dark for the style that I am going for. I didnt end up making my sub
contents titles have a typewriter affect as I have used a copyrighted image which was shown
on my mood board to make my title, my captions wont have a typewriter effect either. Also
my picture will be on the page instead of blinking.
I have changed my sub contents buttons so that they have rollover images instead of
dropping down from the top of the screen. I decided to do this to make my product
different and so that it doesnt have too much movement.
I have also said in my storyboard that the background colour for each section will be a
different colour but have decided to keep my product more consistent by keeping the
background colour the same throughout.

My images and videos on each page wont drop down from the top of the screen because it
made my product take longer to load for each page. However I have still kept the layout of
each of my thing pages the same throughout my product.

Learnt Today I have learnt how to sort out my control buttons for the sound clip and
checked how to align all my assets on the page.
2/11/15:

Aim Today I am going give my product one last final check and make sure it all works
properly as well as updating my ILP.

Evidence Today I have gone through my product and come across a text box which had
text in a weird alignment which meant that the spacing of the text was wrong. To solve this I
went in designer text inspector and changed the arrangement from spacing to the left.
Other than that nothing else needed changing.

3/11/15:

Aim Today I am going to aim to check my product without making any changes and then I
am going to publish it and write a report.

Evidence - I have also published my work by clicking on file and then publish settings,
making sure only the windows projector was ticked. After this I have then written a report
to say how I published this in a few different stages.

Learnt This session I have learnt how to change the alignment of my text in a text box so
that the words dont have big spaces between. I have also learnt how to publish my product
using the right settings.
