1010
Reflection
The
Edu
1010
class
was
designed
to
give
students
the
opportunity
to
teach
in
a
supervised
classroom.
The
profession
of
teaching
expects
candidates
to
adhere
to
the
standards
of
the
practice;
the
Edu
1010
class
Salt
Lake
City
Community
College
program
has
accomplished
that.
The
Edu
1010
class
has
helped
me
a
lot.
I
have
obtained
many
very
valuable
skills
that
will
help
me
pursue
my
career
in
teaching.
The
biggest
take-away
skills
I
learned
were
how
to
provide
necessary
support
for
students
with
disabilities,
classroom
management
skills,
discipline,
how
to
write
a
lesson
plan
that
meets
Utah
State
Education
requirements,
and
I
gained
confidence
in
myself.
In
the
classroom,
lecturing
is
one
way
to
deliver
a
lesson
but
it
is
mainly
teacher
based
where
students
have
to
listen.
A
teacher
can
have
a
variety
of
activities
and
grouping
assignments
where
the
student's
demonstrate
the
lesson
and
the
knowledge
they
gained
from
the
assignment.
I
plan
on
presenting
course
materials
and
instruction
in
a
variety
of
modalities,
such
as
verbal,
visual
and
hands-on
when
possible.
This
is
usually
helpful
to
all
students.
Before
the
Edu
1010
class,
I
had
little
practice
in
speaking
in
front
of
small
groups
of
people.
I
have
always
had
anxiety
speaking
in
front
of
medium
to
large
groups
of
peers
that
I
do
not
know.
During
this
semester
I
believe
I
have
learned
to
discipline
myself
and
visualize
my
lectures
and
presentations
of
what
I
want
to
say,
so
that
speaking
in
front
of
groups
will
not
be
as
terrifying
in
the
future.
I
learned
and
accomplished
several
things
during
the
teacher
preparation
program
such
as
established
classroom
expectations
from
day
one.
This
is
key.
It
is
important
to
discuss
inappropriate
behaviors
or
unacceptable
academic
performances
(such
as
cheating
and
plagiarism)
with
all
students.
The
edu
1010
program
has
taught
me
that
classroom
management
is
the
primary
concern
from
the
start
of
school
and
it
is
important
to
have
a
clear
set
of
expectations
rules,
procedures
and
consequences
to
address
the
class
with.
The
students
need
to
know
what
is
expected
of
them
otherwise
they
will
try
and
push
the
limits
and
the
boundaries
of
the
teacher.
One
of
the
goals
and
aspirations
for
future
teachers
is
to
gain
the
respect
and
trust
of
the
students
and
have
each
member
of
the
classroom
interested
in
learning.
As
a
teacher,
I
will
respect
all
of
my
students.
If
students
are
not
respected
in
the
classroom
they
will
not
thrive.
I
plan
on
working
with
parents
and
treating
them
with
respect
so
they
support
my
end
goals
and
me
as
a
teacher.
I
will
set
classroom
expectations
and
treat
students
and
parents
with
respect.
As
a
future
educator,
my
goal
is
to
have
a
happy
and
positive
experience
and
I
want
to
get
up
in
the
morning
and
excited
to
go
to
school
for
the
next
25+
years.
The
goals
and
aspirations
for
future
teaching
skills,
is
to
use
a
variety
of
teaching
methods
and
strategies
in
order
to
reach
all
kinds
of
learners.
Although
teachers
have
always
used
strategies,
until
recently
most
teachers
had
only
a
handful
of
generic
techniques
at
their
disposal:
discussion,
demonstration,
lecture,
practice,
and
test.
Normal
every
day
lecture
for
45-90
minutes
does
not
create
much
excitement
or
interest
in
every
day
class.
I
want
to
get
my
students
moving
and
thinking.
Being
able
to
adapt
is
an
important
teaching
skill
that
is
required
for
all
classroom
settings.
Lesson
adaptations
that
can
be
made
by
ways
such
as
creating
individualized
lesson
plans,
focusing
on
the
key
concepts
and
main
points,
using
explicit
strategies,
module
concepts,
hand
out
a
graphic
organizer,
etc.
These
are
all
important
adaptations
that
are
critical
for
students
with
disabilities.
Students
need
the
opportunity
to
practice
and
learn.
Teaching
methods
and
assessment
adaptations
are
also
important
skills
for
teaching.
One
of
the
main
goals
and
aspirations
for
future
teaching
skills
is
to
realize
that
all
students
want
to
learn.
As
a
future
educator,
it
is
important
to
find
a
middle
ground.
I
am
sure
my
classroom
procedures
and
policies
will
change
over
the
years,
and
it
is
important
to
be
flexible
and
willing
to
adapt
and
change.
There
are
ways
to
encourage
our
students
to
do
what
we
ask
them.
If
a
student
doesn't
turn
in
an
assignment,
teachers
can
accept
late
assignments
at
a
reduced
percentage.
No-win
situation
punishments
do
not
work
in
education
(for
the
student
and
the
teacher).
As
a
teacher,
it
is
my
job
to
promote
motivation
and
to
prevent
misbehavior,
not
to
punish
students.
Effective
teachers
understand
that
what
matters
is
how
students
behave
in
the
future.
An
end
result
should
be
in
mind.
I
really
enjoyed
working
with
the
teachers
in
my
student
teaching
classes.
The
teachers
feedback
helped
me
to
improve
for
the
future.
At
first
the
class
was
overwhelming,
especially
after
I
faced
medical
issues.
But
reflecting
back,
the
skills
obtained
in
edu1010
participation
has
helped
me.
As
far
as
student
teaching
goes,
I
felt
like
I
improved
each
hour
I
was
there
and
after
watching
the
video
of
myself
teach
was
very
helpful
and
allowed
me
to
visualize
and
further
discipline
myself.
Edu
1010
has
been
a
great
class!
Thank
you!
