will
learn
how
to
make
their
own
fish,
orca
whale,
or
clamshell
using
a
paper
plate,
watercolor
paint,
googly
eyes,
scissors,
and
glue.
After
reading
the
book
The
Pout-
Pout
Fish
by
Debra
Diesen,
students
will
watch
a
demo
and
select
a
fish,
whale,
or
clamshell
to
create.
Students
will
choose
whether
to
give
their
sea
creature
a
happy
or
sad
expression,
and
will
learn
how
to
create
the
appropriate
look
using
the
materials
given.
Objectives:

1:
Students
will
read
the
book
The
Pout
Pout
Fish
aloud
with
Ms.
B.
Afterward,
Ms.
B
and
students
will
discuss
the
range
of
emotions
the
Pout
Pout
Fish
used
and
how
he
expressed
these
emotions
with
his
face,
particularly
his
mouth.
The
class
will
discuss
emotions
they
have
felt
including
how
they
feel
today.
Next,
the
students
will
watch
a
demonstration
of
how
to
create
their
own
fish
using
a
paper
plate,
glue,
scissors,
and
watercolor
paint.
Depending
on
timing,
Ms.
B
may
show
them
the
finished
product
and
only
the
first
few
steps.
At
the
very
least,
students
will
be
shown
how
to
use
watercolors,
watercolor
brushes,
and
how
to
mix
warm
and
cool
colors.
Ms.
B
will
direct
students
to
put
their
name,
grade
level,
and
teachers
name
on
the
back
of
their
plate
by
the
end
of
class.
Day
2:
Teacher
will
demonstrate
cutting
an
expression
with
scissors
and
cutting
and
attaching
fins.
Teacher
will
show
various
examples
of
options-
smiles,
frowns,
etc.
as
well
as
shapes
of
fins.
Students
will
cut
expressive
mouths
on
their
fish
and
attach
fins
and
googly
eyes.
If
all
students
finish
early,
teacher
will
read
The
Pout
Pout
Fish
again
with
students.
Day
3:
Students
will
finish
their
fish
if
they
havent
already
and
turn
them
in.
Once
they
have
finished,
students
will
be
directed
to
an
additional
activity
of
the
teachers
choosing
at
their
table.
