My Technology Competencies
Standards dictate that you will need specific levels of technology competencies and skills. You will learn much about educational technology as you continue
through this text. However, it is useful to be aware of your current levels of competency so you can best address any potential deficits.
For this activity:
1. Take the self-assessment below. Use the rating scale provided and place an X in the appropriate column to determine your current level of educational
technology literacy.

2. Review NETS-T and the national or local technology standards in your own teaching area. Compare them to the competencies and skills in your
self-assessment.
3. Prepare a Personal Technology Action Plan presentation using the technology (presentation, video, mind map, etc.) of your choice to show what action
you intend to take to achieve the competencies and skills you need to meet your standards. Include the following in your presentation:
a. The standard you need to meet
b. The specific skill(s) or competency you need to address in order to meet the standard
c. The strategies you will engage in to ensure you gain the target skill(s)
d. Your personal timeline for achieving the competency or skill(s)
Be prepared to submit and share your Personal Technology Action Plan as directed by your instructor.
