ENGL 3060 Unit 2: Social Media Self-Analysis

Overview:
Social media is everywhere. Facebook has invaded our lives so much that we can
now sign up for newsletters, apps, etc. by logging in through it. But what does your
use of social media say about you professionally? What does it say about other
people? Thats what we are going to work on for Unit 2.
Audience:
A potential employer considering you for a job and classmates
Purpose:
You will analyze your use of social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Blogs,
Forums, etc). You will write an analysis of your professionalism based on what you
find. You should include some outside research on how social media affects your
chances of getting a job or what employers do with social media (you can use the
articles on Blackboard but feel free to find your own sources). Be sure you cite your
sources.
Your report is two-fold and should include:
- Introduction
- Social Media Usage (with examples)
- Analysis
- Conclusion and Recommendations

There are important features of this assignment that will be considered in the
grading criteria:
It must be in the appropriate and polished.
It must include critical thinking about your social media presence.
It must be in a formal tone and include outside sources appropriately cited.
It must be clear and concise. Your audience should not be confused after
reading it.
Length: 3 5 pages
Due Dates:
Drafting: Tuesday, February 23
Conferences: Thursday, February 25
Final Draft due: Tuesday, March 1
