ENGL 3060 Unit 4: HR Group Project

Overview:
In this assignment, you will be in groups. The purpose is to use what youve
learned this semester to go through the job application and hiring process. There
are a few steps in this project:
1. As a group, you will choose a job ad; everyone will submit a resume and cover letter for this
job.
2. Group members should conduct social media analyses of all applicants.
3. You will then create a list of interview questions, based on the job, Human Resources guidelines,
social media analyses, and individual cover letter/resume information.
4. One by one you will be interviewed by the group, taking turns to ask questions, in accordance
with HR interview policies and expectations.
5. After all interviews are complete, you will discuss as a group who should be hired for the
position (you can only hire one person per group).
6. You will, as a group, write three sets of letters: one recommendation for hire to the CEO of the
company, one job offer letter, and rejection letters to the remaining members of the group.
You will turn in:
1. A report to me, detailing the process you went through for each step (this will
be at least at least 6 pages double-spaced). You should be detailed and
specific about each part of the process (some parts will be longer than
others).
2. Group notes on social media analyses for all group members, interview
questions, notes taken during interviews, notes from the hiring committee,
and polished copies of the letters.
3. Each group member will write a 1-2 page (double-spaced) letter to me. This
letter will be handed in separately and will evaluate the group as a whole
and how well you worked together. You should also include any thoughts
about the project (well discuss this part in class).
For your final exam, you will present this project to the class. As a group, you will
present your project. How you do this is up to you, but you should have at least
one visual component. We will discuss this in class as well. You will have no more
than 20 minutes per group, and each member must participate in some way.
