Reason

Measures have been implemented with the aim of improving feeding performance in the paper pick-up
assembly.

Details

<Phenomenon>
Jams occur at times in the vertical path assembly while the copier is making copies.
<Cause>
The paper pick-up assembly cover and the vertical path guide plate are linked through the cover arm,
and the vertical path assembly is designed to be locked when the paper pick-up assembly cover is
closed. If the paper pick-up assembly cover fails to close properly, however, the resulting lack of
locking force in the vertical path assembly can cause paper to jam.
<Factory measure>
As many as four magnetic catches instead of the current two will be used for the paper pick-up
assembly cover so as to increase the attraction of the magnet and, ultimately, prevent the lack of
locking force for the vertical path assembly. In addition, the shape of the cover arm is modified in
consideration of the excess increase in the locking force against the vertical path assembly.

Servicing

: If jams occur because of the aforementioned cause, be sure to replace the paper pick-up assembly cover
and the cover arm with modified types simultaneously.
