Name of First Module Completed: Mental Health/Behavioral Review Team

Summary/Reflection: Both of the videos gave great information regarding how the BRT

works and who should use it. It was very informative to learn how the information is submitted
and reviewed. It was nice to know that the reports can be turned in anonymously but it is best to
leave the name. This information had been presented at other DE information meetings, but the
review was still helpful. Sometimes there are issues with students and it can be difficult to figure
out how it should be handled. It is nice to know there is a team that can assist instructors. The
video by Bock regarding the counseling center was also very informative. He went over many of
the important points regarding who can use the center and how students/staff who are in crisis
become a priority, then there are more normal student dealings regarding making appointments.
I had forgotten about the Gatekeeping program, so all of the information was a great review. I
went over the Counseling website, it contained a lot of very helpful tips for students who might
be dealing with many different issues such as anxiety, depression, interpersonal violence, and
things that should be done in the case of rape. I really liked the section regarding healthy
relationships. This is very important to many college students because many can be convinced
that what their partner is doing is normal. There are also sections on each area describing how
a student can help a friend dealing with each situation. Wonderful website!

Name of Second Module Completed: Deployments and Military Friendliness

This module on active duty military, deployed, VA and spouses along

with dependants was very informative. I didnt know there was a policy in place to help active
duty or reserve personnel to assist with withdrawing from classes and the office working with
instructors to insure proper help and grades. I come from a long line of military and this is
wonderful. Helping our military personnel both active duty and those with VA benefits is great.
I have also had students who were deployed and worked with them on a case by case basis.
Deployments are difficult and the added stress of course work is not needed. I am so happy that
the office will help them withdrawal or contact instructors as needed to lend all sorts of
assistance. The VA benefits and Tuition Assistance paperwork can be very challenging, so
having someone right there to help is tremendous.
