Graphic Design 2 Checklist for Coloring Page Project

This project is for the Childrens Mott Hospital. We are creating an Skyline Animal Coloring Book. This work is worth 200 points and
everyone will need to complete their work on time and with as much talent as possible. Since this is for sick or visiting children I want
everyone to show their amazing talent. The checklist below is a guideline that MUST be followed. There needs to be some
consistency. Although I would like to see personal style I am the final judge of your work and your work needs to be a REALISTIC
DRAWING as well as a COLORED PAGE. I am asking for this work to be funded and published by an outside source so I will not
accept work that is not well done. Those who do well and finish early may have an opportunity to create another page.
Please make sure that you are following the order of this checklist so you do not have unnecessary corrections.
____ Write your animal and letter: ________________________________________
____ Create a new file in Adobe Illustrator that is 8 inches wide by 10 inches long.
____ Find, place and lock your animal file. This file is the head only and with as much detail as possible. The file has to be vertical or
portrait style.
____ In layer 1 you will need to visually cut your animal portrait in half before you begin using the pen tool to draw. You can draw a
line down the middle but you will have to remove it before you group, copy and paste.
____ While drawing the animal with the pen tool set on black stroke of 1 point look for repetition and rhythm of shapes or designs.
For example if you have a snake look for a rhythm of scales or the hairs of a horses mane.
____ Make sure that the overall image looks symmetrical. Save this half drawing as Half(Animal).ai. Remeber before you group, copy
and flip the image to remove the dividing line if you made one.
____ Copy and flip vertically your half drawing to create a full symmetrical animal portrait. Please note: If the image you choose was
not a full head shot you will need to draw the background environment before you copy and flip. The background has to be
realistic and be an accurate depiction of the animals natural habitat. Please ask for drawing approval.

____ Save this file as Uncolored(Animal).ai.
____ Next you will add the uppercase letter and animal word in Colorfont which can be downloaded at
http://www.fontspace.com/kids-fonts/colorfont. The letter and word will need to be added separately. They will all be 150
points. The letter alone will be at the top and cannot touch an edge. The word will begin with an upper case letter and the word
will be strategically placed on the bottom and cannot touch the edge. Add a 3 point black border around all four edges of the
page like a frame.

____ Once the letter and word are placed you will need to color in the letters white for the coloring page. Save this file
Uncolored(Animal)ColoringPage.ai. Please ask about arrangement for approval.

____ Now you will need to go back and open the Half(Animal).ai file. Open it up and color the half. Once done group, copy and flip.
Add the letter and word and color. Add a 3 point black border around all four edges of the page like a frame. Save this file as
Colored(Animal)ColoringPage.ai.Please ask about for approval.

____ Make sure that you have done all the steps above and that you have had 3 files approved. Once they have all been
approved and only when they have been approved you will need to drop the Uncolored(Animal)ColoringPage.ai and
Colored(Animal)ColoringPage.ai.
