4. In the film it is said that dreaming involves simultaneous perceiving and creating; yet
contemporary epistemology claims that this is the nature of perception dreaming or awake.
The film, in my opinion illustrates both notions of creating ones perception.
Epistemology defines the investigation into the the grounds and nature of knowledge itself- and
in a way the film completely claims this idea. In the film, the characters constantly gained
knowledge by experiencing and perceiving the main view of ones self dream. Through
sensory experience they were able to create different senses of perception in someone elses
dream- therefore, allowing for suppressive perceiving of entities.
7. For the dreamers, the dreams become their reality. This is a theme in the film. Comment on
the question, Who are we to say otherwise?
Who are we to say otherwise that we are awake or dreaming? Just like Descartes- one is
not certain of anything. However, in the film, dreams become reality- one can not say otherwise
as reality is a concrete feeling and existence of fully living through experiences and truths. In a
dream, dreamers constantly participate in this. This idea causes one to not be able to distinguish
between what is real and what is false.
10. Part of the premise of the story is that one can train oneself to navigate in and out of dream
states. Is there any realism to this idea?
There is a lot of realism to this idea as ones rememory causes them to already know
what is or what should occur in their dream state. The training instance of this belief allows for
one to fully understand that navigating in and out of dream states is overall reality and perception
of the inception that metaphorically paints a picture of discernible restrain.
12. The characters in the story continuously make distinctions between what is real and what is a
projection while in their dream state. Does this make any sense? Explain.
In ones dream state, one can tell what they wanted in their dream or what is somewhat
off or odd about their dream. However, this does not make sense as one can not be
completely certain whether theyre dreaming or if theyre awake. This again brings up the
question who are we to say otherwise? to seem as though one can not say otherwise to many
other questions including: are we living? am I me?
13. The smallest idea can grow to the point that it will define you or destroy you. Explain what
this statement means.
This statement greatly means that one can believe in an idea so deeply that the belief can
take over them mentally- as to make them block out what someone else can possibly believe.

Believing in something so deeply can cause a mentality of destroying one, or it can cause a
mentality of bringing to life ones personality and how one goes about other things.
16. Do you believe that dreams can reflect our subconscious feelings or thoughts? Why or why
not?
I completely believe in the fact that dreams can reflect our subconscious feelings and
thoughts. I feel as though dreams represent our minds memories and what weve once
experienced. Our subconscious is linked to every part of our mind and theoretical entities that
flow through our beliefs justifiable knowledge. Our dreams are illustrated by the society that we
create within our mind and this society reflects our feelings and thoughts psychologically.
