The job description of an interviewer is that they must talk to the guest, ask questions, and to also
make them feel comfortable. They need to research the interviewee beforehand so they know about
them and what questions they may want to ask and talk about. They also need to be able to draw
information and conversations about the topics and subject from their chosen interviewee.
Which part of the studio do they work in? (ie control room, studio floor)
They work on the studio floor, in front of the cameras. This is because they need to be on set at
all times making sure that they are interviewing the guest.
What skills do they need to do their job well?
Good communication skills; ability to build a conversations; confidents; friendly; good
researcher. Being able to have make the guest feel comfortable is a key part as they are
more likely to open up about the topic that is being spoken about.
Director

Directors are usually the ones who take control of the whole studio and make sure that
everyone is doing their jobs correctly.
Which part of the studio do they work in? (ie control room, studio floor)
They would work in the control room as from there they would have a clear view on what is
going on and therefore would be able to direct everyone and let them all know what it is they
are doing

Their job role is to capture everything that is going on, whilst also following a script on what to
film. They also have to listen to what the director is saying in order to give queues to the
people on set. They are also in charge for setting up the cameras in order to make sure that
everyone fits into the shot, as it will look unprofessional if someones head has been cut off.
Which part of the studio do they work in? (ie control room, studio floor)
They work on the studio floor as that is where they production will be taking place. This is so
they can talk to those on the studio floor and let them know what is going on.
Sound Mixing

The sound mixer is someone who controls the sound that is being heard at any time. They are able
to switch between the sound from the studio and any sound made from any inserts. Its also
important to be able to control the volume levels as they dont want it to be too loud or too quiet.
Which part of the studio do they work in? (ie control room, studio floor)
The sound mixer works in the control room with all the sound equipment, and also with the vision
mixer so they know when to change any volume levels.
Vision Mixing

The vision mixer is in charge of switching in-between cameras to keep the point of interest, as the
camera always needs to be on the person who is talking.
Which part of the studio do they work in? (ie control room, studio floor)
The vision mixer is based in the control room as this is where all the equipment is kept. They would
usually be alongside the sound mixer as they need to be able to work together in order to make
sure the right sound is played at the correct time.

Graphics Generator
Describe their job - Reference your research
The job role of a graphics generator is to create all the graphics that appear at the beginning and
the end of the production. This includes logos, the main title sequence and the end credits. They
also need to be able to add images and videos throughout the production so that it goes along with
what they guest or interviewer is saying.

They would work in the control room so they know when the graphics need to come in during the
production.
Lighting Desk
Describe their job - Reference your research
Their job is to set up and operate lighting equipment in TV and film. They would have to work with
the lighting director and director in order to get the lights to be in the correct place so that no
shadows are on any people in the production.

They would be on the studio as they would have to make sure that the lighting is always in the
correct place during the show.
Floor Manager

The floor manager is the person who is in charge of all the equipment and props on the set. They
need to make sure it is safe around the cameras and studio floor so that no one is in any danger.

Add in photographs of your final set, including props etc.
