HAVING FUN IN CHINESE CLASS

I have to say that Mandarin is one of my favorite
subjects. It is very challenging but my classmates and I are
enjoying it very much because my teacher Mrs. Marshall has
made it easy to understand and master for us.
In this class, we are not only learning useful conversation
skills but we're also learning to read, type and write. Chinese
writing is very difficult and complex. We were so amazed by
the evolution of Chinese characters. The ancient Chinese
people
incorporated their observations and awareness
o
f
nature into the shapes of the characters. As a
result, there are numerous character that
look like pictures. It is good for us to
understand and memorize them. I can write
approximately 150 characters already!

When learning a foreign language, one
must explore the culture as well. Weve
learned Chinese customs and celebrated the
Yan Marshall main Chinese Festivals in our Mandarin class.
Mandarin
Since we like Chinese food very much, Mrs.
Marshall has taught us how to make some
famous Chinese dishes like Kongpao Chicken,
Mapo Toufu, fried rice and dumplings. We have
gotten to know some ingredients that I have
never heard of before through cooking. It
feels great to eat the food that we cooked by
ourselves! We are definitely having fun in
Mandarin class!

MUSIC

I love to see students start tapping,
moving hands up high or down low, swinging
like nobody is watching when they hear ANY
kind of music. The smiles on their faces, that is
the moment that lights up a teachers day.

We sing many beautiful folk songs
from different cultures. We also use
funny voices to sing while we play music
games. Sometimes we do not sing but
listen in order to find our partners. The
central idea of music class is to let students
feel the fun, relaxing temple of music, to try to
click and develop this inner nature of
everyone.

Music class is a course
designed to let students open up
their minds to appreciate diverse
music in different seasons,
holidays, cultures and eras. I hope
when they laugh and have fun,
they also open their ears, eyes
and heart to enhance their
intellectual and emotional
growth.
