Cold weather adaptation
The vehicle is adapted to work better in a cold
climate. The battery and fuel filter are heated
with hot coolant via heat from the engine or
from a diesel-powered auxiliary heater.
Cold weather adaptation comprises:
Battery heater

Circulation pump
The circulation pump circulates hot coolant.
The circulation pump is located in the engine
compartment on the wall that houses the cab
ladder.
Note: When connecting a new circulation
pump, the electrical connector must be
renewed. For a description of electrical
connection of the circulation pump, refer to the
Work description chapter.

Venting cold-weather-adaptation
parts
Poor performance of cold weather adaptation
parts could be caused by air in the system. If
this is the case, the system must be vented.
Note: Coolant filling must always be done via
the designated union under the vehicle cab. See
Scania Multi 02-00 Cooling system.
Venting procedure
1 Start the vehicle engine and auxiliary
heater.
2 Increase engine speed slightly.
3 Shut off the flow of coolant to the coldweather-adapted parts using the rotary
control (1) on the fluid distributor.
4 Increase engine speed slightly.
5 Open the flow of coolant to the coldweather-adapted parts using the rotary
control (1).
6 Shut off the flow of coolant to the battery
heater using the rotary control (2) located
at the battery heater.
7 Shut off the flow of coolant from the
circulation pump to the cab heater.
The flow is shut off by choking the hose
between the circulation pump branch
connection and the cab heater with a clamp
or in another suitable manner.
8 Increase engine speed slightly.
