Precision Multi-Axis CNC Machining

For over 70 years Imperial Machine & Tool Co. has been a leader in developing and implementing advanced
manufacturing methods. We have an extensive portfolio of CNC machining centers and are particularly
adept at utilizing our large machining centers in flexible cells. In many cases we use our machine tools to
perform complex machining operations on large plates and work pieces. Some examples are shown below:

Production
In addition to large work pieces we also utilize our machining centers to meet production demand for a large
volume of parts on one machine. These are often unattended machining operations. In this manner, our large
work surfaces provide the flexibility to work in the evenings and weekends on production demands on one side
of a machining center while remaining set up on a developmental operation on the other end of the machine tool.
During the day, or as needed for rush or urgent requirements, we concentrate on the daily product development
needs, while continuing to meet overall production in the evenings and weekends. Additionally, we have multiple
machining centers with automatic pallet changing that allows for a similar approach. That is, we load our pallets
with parts to machine off-hours while working on other production needs during the day. Examples of which follow:

Commonality on the Shop Floor

All of our machine tools are programmed off line, the vast majority are Haas machine tools and all of our tools
have the exact same fixturing baseplate. This commonality allows our programmers the flexibility to design our
work holding with common tool attachment points in mind. In this manner all fixtures and tools for any item are
capable of being run on multiple machine tools. Having all tooling and fixturing interchangeable allows the utmost
in design and production flexibility. In addition to our flexibility we also equip our large CNC machine tools
with high pressure through the spindle coolant. This gives us the ability to bring high pressure coolant directly
to the spindle nose and point of cut. The ability to remove chips and provide coolant in this manner enables us
to get maximum depth of cut, minimum workpiece warpage due to thermal stress, and superior chip removal.

Relationship with Suppliers

Finally, we would be remiss if we did not mention our active coordination with our tooling and equipment
suppliers. We have a very proactive and dynamic relationship with Haas machine tools. That relationship goes back
over 2 decades and is based on a simple concept; if Haas and their local service branch guarantee us immediate
access to repairs and service we wont look elsewhere for our machine tool needs. We also work in a similar vein
with our primary tooling supplier(s). We share with them our technical challenge and focus on partnering on
new tooling applications and capabilities. This regular contact allows our technical people the ability to stay on
the true cutting edge of tooling technology. We are confident in our suppliers capabilities and regularly work
in some of the toughest and most demanding applications. It is very common for Imperial to be working in
Titanium, Tantalum and some of the toughest materials to cut in one portion of our shop (or even on one side
of a machine tool) while working on aluminum or a similar easy to cut material elsewhere. This knowledge and
approach has enabled Imperial to consistently meet or exceed our customers delivery or quality requirements.
We welcome challenging applications whether they be close tolerance/complex machining of large weldments,
plates or work pieces or urgent delivery of more mundane items. Our constant attention to detail, singular focus
on our customers needs, as well as our extensive machining and fabrication capabilities have led to our 72-year
track record of growth and success.
