V Baulkham Hills

Semi final Guildford Park, Guildford

Greystanes

1 Baby, 1 clean
chest and
a comeback!!!

A semi final full of character, as the Kolts took on Baulkham

Hills at Guildford. After being behind 2 zip at the break, the
Black Kolts put together a hard fought second half,
combining smart quality football and grit to run over Baulko.
The change room prior to the match was a tight fit and
gave Vlad a chance to make a special announcement....he
really needed to get something off his chest! (Ads dragging
us all to new low as he pointed out a stain that could be
gotten off!) - Congrats to Chris and Sarah...a little minolski is
on the way!
The match saw the Kolts get under way quickly.
Possession was in the Kolts favour as the ball movement
opened up early chances around the box. Baulko pushed
players forward and looked to win possession from the first
and second ball.
Midhalf and the Kolts were shocked as a turnover in the
Kolts half saw a turnover that was quickly played to the
centre where the Baulko striker was standing alone on the
edge of the penalty spot....he finished to put the Kolts
behind.
The Kolts then went up a gear and had Baulko chasing
around the park. Some physical challenges from both sides
saw some yellows and free kicks from dangerous positions.

A free kick from 35 out straight in front found Dave who cut back to Minol - only the linesmans flag for
a mystery foul stopping the equaliser being awarded.
Soon after Baulko went to the other end and had a striker running one on one in the box....a foul saw
a penalty awarded and from the ensuing spot kick Baulko went 2 up.
Another half chance to Baulko minutes later could have seen it at 3-0 but Nolan was quick off his line
and shut down the advancing striker.
With 5 to go to halftime, the game became scrappy and the Kolts looked to hold possession and keep
a shape - the second half was the time to do the winning!
An inspired half time, saw a team that knew they were in a position that required everybody to
produce - effort, run, shape, team!
Dave maurauding down the right and Naya down the left set the tone for the start of the second half.
Baulko knew what was coming and struggled to do anything about it. The back three pushed up and
stayed tight, winning possession and playing balls into midfield. If possession was lost, The Kolts won the
50-50s and continued to build pressure - when the ball is won quickly and then knocked around in the
opposition half at speed, eventually the chances come.
A turnover near halfway saw Jaime released down the left. A run across the box from Minol took
defenders away as Baulko scrambled. A pinpoint pass to the free man, Dave, at the back post, saw him
finish to send the crowd wild! (He had brought his own team to support him!).
The second came 10 minutes later as the Kolts maintained the pressure. Another ball won inside the
Baulko half (with everyone pressing in together) saw Jaime give a masterclass in a measured pass as he
released the ever dangerous Naya through the centre. His blinding acceleration was breathtaking and he
finished under an advancing keeper, 2-2.
Baulko pushed forward, hoping to get back in front - a ball in from the left saw a sweetly timed volley
whistle past the outside of the post. A warning for the Kolts to work at both ends.
Minol was driving the defence crazy up front....and even more so when he had the ball! One shot he
laced was goal bound from the edge of the area, only to cannon off the defender for a corner.
The Kolts were patient though with the ball and continued to move it quickly with runners, in and
around the area. A ball to Minol from Thommo, saw Minol all class as he rolled the defender to the right
on the edge of the area and finished at the far post. 3-2 up with 10 to go.
With Baulko throwing everything forward, Nolan produced a world class reflex save - a ball into the
area saw defender and attacker challenge for the ball only a few metres out. The shot whipped at goal
and Nolan went up to the right with a save any keeper would be proud of!
The pest continued to be just that and eventually in holding him off from running in for another shoulder
charge, Dave was given a red.
The ten man held on for the remaining injury time and the Kolts had produced an outstanding
comeback! Dame, Fewelly, Dave, Adam, Alecs, Trev, Thommo and Nolan all playing their part at the back
at different times. Winning ball and defending together. Jaime, Donny and Alecs took turns at running the
centre with overlap out wide from Dave, Dan, Naya, Donny and Rich. Vic, Minol and Naya dangerous up
front. Jez, Harry, Noons, Bunny, Vlad and Doz sitting out.... And now for the Vlad moment of
emotion....This squad produces time and time again...full of great smart players that whatever team takes
the park they put everything into it for the mates around them!....whether down by two or up by two this
team knows what has to be done and produces - ONE OUTSTANDING SQUAD!
,,,and on to the grand final against Toongabbie. The last contest having been a victory to them, will
see the Kolts show up primed and ready to produce....bring it on!!!
