The country has now 17 regions.

These are the regions of Ilocos,


Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon; Southern Tagalog now divided into
Calabarzon or Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezonl MiMaRoPa
or Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan, Bicol Western Visayas,
Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Western Mindanao, Northern Mindanao,
Southern Mindanao, Central Mindanao, Caraga Administrative Region of
Muslim Mindanao(ARMM), Cordillera Administrative Region(CAR), and the
National Capital Region(NCR) referring to Metro Manila. The list of
provinces belonging to these regions is provided in this chapter. You do not
need to memorize them. What is important is to imagine their location so
that you will be able to answer correctly the questions at the end.
These regions are comprised of provinces, which are subdivided into
districts. The districts consists of municipalities and further divided into
barangays. As of 2006, these are 80 provinces, the latest addition is
Saranggani. There are now 117 cities. The 17 local government units in the
Metro Manila are now chartered cities

The Provinces of the Philippines are the primary political and
administrative divisions of the Philippines. Each province is administered
by an elected governor who oversees various local government entities.
Each province is member to the League of Provinces of the Philippines, an
organization which aims to address issues affecting provincial and
metropolitan government administrations.
