The Village Green Virtual Charter School the
first of its kind in Rhode Island; a high school
which uses a blended learning model of on-line
curriculum and in-classroom teaching. Students
are in class working with teachers about 40%
of the time and on-line or in advisory and
reading groups the other 60%. Teachers at the
Village Green work with students when there is a
skill or strategy that cannot be mastered in the
on-line curriculum. The major goal of the bricks
and mortar virtual school is that teachers are
freed from designing and assessing lessons and
can turn their attention to targeting the learning
needs of each student. Our schools design places
students in classes when there is a skill or
strategy they need to master.

Upon enrollment, Guidance Counselors meet with students and their

parents/guardians to discuss the most appropriate course of study. Our
curriculum offers two pathways of study: Construction Craft Technology and
World of Work Exploration.
Our instructional approach for learning is Problem-Based Learning (PBL)
which requires students to solve real-life problems. This unique and
challenging approach to applied learning requires all students to use higher
order thinking skills, hands-on learning, and work with 21st Century work
skills. All students, regardless of program selection, will need to successfully
complete the Cranston Public Schools High Schools Diploma System
proficiency requirements to graduate. These requirements are integrated into
required courses in English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Physical Education,
the Arts, Electives, Senior Portfolio, and mandated testing (the NECAP) in
accordance with the Rhode Island State Department of Educations GSE
proficiency graduation requirements. In addition, financial literacy is
embedded throughout the curriculum.Our faculty is all Rhode Island Certified
teachers. Our Certified Construction Instructors have over 40 years of
combined experience, and are members of Local 271.

Central Falls High School (CFHS) is an urban Senior
High School that serves students from grades nine
through twelve. It is centrally located within the city
of Central Falls so that students are able to walk to
and from school. The current enrollment is just over
820.
We are working hard to improve the school climate
and culture, while increasing rigor and student
engagement across classrooms. We are dedicated to
keeping students in school, helping them to meet
graduation requirements and preparing them to
make informed decisions regarding post-secondary
opportunities.
Beyond academics, our high schools offer a wide
