Expected hours per day

8 Hours per day. Unpaid overtime may be needed if projects needed to be


completed.

Earning Potential

Earning varies depending on the education level, the type of position they
hold and their experience.

Most earn between $40,000 to $125,000

The national average is between $65,000 and $90,000

Senior or supervisory positions can make $125,000

Starters earn $40,000

Admission Requirements

6 Grade 12 U and/or M courses include (according to University of Waterloo)

Advanced Functions (Minimum final grade of 70% is required)

Calculus and Vectors (Minimum final grade of 70% is required)

Chemistry (Minimum final grade of 70% is required)

Physics (Minimum final grade of 70% is required)

English (ENG 4U) (Minimum final grade of 70% is required)

Type of Education/Training Required

Bachelor of Engineering 4 years

Bachelor of Applied Science 4 years

Masters degree gives greater skills and can increase the chances of getting
hired +2 years

A Doctor of Engineering can also be taken. This is required for computer


hardware engineers that are interested in research. + 5-6
