    secondmoststressfulexperienceforfamilystodealwith,otherthandeath.To
    somepointallfamilymemberexperienceabandonments,trauma,rejection,lossof
    incomeandevenalowerstandardofliving.Foradultsdivorcefeelslikeaworld
    toanend,buttoyoungchildrenitfeelsliketheworldisending.Meaningtheone
    familytheyhavealwaysknownisnowgone.Atthistimethemothersworking
    patternmayincreaseandthefamilyslivingislikelytochangewithincreasing
    stress.Itisveryimportantthattheadultswhoareintimatelyinvolvedwith
    childrenrealizewhatacriticalpointthisisfortheirdevelopment.Childrenare
    morevulnerableatthisageandformotherandfathertheycanresolvethislife
    crisisandmoveo,butchildrendivorceisalongcontinuumoflifeexperiences.
    Researchestimatesthat20to25percentofchildrenfromdivorcedfamilieshave

    problems,asteachersweneedtodoourbesttogivetheseandallchildrena
    healthyandsafeenvironmenttolearnandgrowin.

    Ilearnedthatmanyparentsaremotivatedconcernedfortheirchildrenand
    alwaysquestioningthepracticesofateacherorcaregiver.Thismaybeexpressed
    invoicesthatcouldangry,butsometimesparentswhofeelpowerlessattemptto
    grabpowerinappropriately.Anotherreasonoremotiontheymaybecoveringupis
    thegriefofparentswhofeelupsetwhenrealizingthattheirchildhaseithergone
    offtoschoolormayevenhaveadevelopmentalproblem.Thenteachersrealize
    thatparentsmaybeoverwhelmedandextremelyupsetitisimportanttorealize
    thiscomeupwithamethodofcopingwiththeiranxietyandshowingthather
    childisgettingthebesthelp.Whenteacherdirectlyassignblameforaproblem,
    parentsmayreactinhostileways,theremaybenosolution,buttodowhatisbest
    forthechildwhileworkingtogetherwiththeparentswishes.Ifparentsbecome
    defensiveandfeelthatteachersarecriticizingthem,teacherandparentswillsuffer
    formthebreakdownincommunication.Carfulanalysisoftheconflictmayhelp
    teachermovetowardprofessionalactionsandacceptablesolutions.
