Completing the Diploma

In order to achieve the whole your Apprenticeship you must be working in a clinical or a
social care setting, your Assessor will visit you in your workplace to discuss your qualification
and plan with you how you will achieve it. They will watch you carrying out tasks and ask you
questions - you will also be asked to provide witness testimonies from your colleagues or
your Line Manager. All of this evidence will be uploaded into your electronic portfolio.

http://www.onefile.co.uk
Your Skills Officer will give you a full induction to the content of your portfolio which is
accessible from any computer and you will also have the opportunity to access it in college
during some of your sessions.

In order to provide the required evidence for your Diploma you will be given subjects to
research and tasks to carry out relating to the subject you are working on. It may be that
some areas overlap and therefore you will not be expected to double your workload by
repeating work already completed. Your Assessor will show you how to cross reference the
evidence.
You should always speak with your work colleagues and employer so that they are aware
which topics you are working on. They may be able to assist you within any planning and will
be able to answer questions you have relating to your workplace and its policies and
procedures. It is really important that you read the policies and any other information given
as you may be questioned on these by your Assessor.
Learning Support
If at any time during your training you think you may require assistance, please speak to your
Assessor or Tutor. The College has an excellent Student Support Department and qualified
Tutors can be assigned to support you in learning for as long as necessary.

with you.
You and your employer will both be given a course programme which will identify what will
be covered at each college session and when assignments will need to be handed in.
World Skills Health and Social Care Competitions
The Caring Competitions not only demonstrate this but also have
a positive impact on the public perception of those who work
within the sector. The competitions showcase all that is positive
and valued in social care and give the people whose daily work
may often go unnoticed the opportunity to shine.
You will have the opportunity to enter the Exeter College internal
competition in February the winner of which will be put forward for
the regional heats in June. The competitors who achieve the
highest scores in the regional heats, will be invited to compete at
the National UK Final to be held at the NEC in November.
There is also a trip to the national finals. You will need to make a
small contribution towards transport costs.
Each year, exceptional competitors from World Skills UK regional and national competitions are
invited to compete in the selection process for Squad and Team UK for the World Skills Competition
