Specifications for Beading:

Although no proper specifications have been mentioned in the Technical

Specifications for beading. It is clearly mentioned under sub head General
Characteristics (3.1.3) section of 4600-3 of Technical Specifications that:
1. All the timber shall be in accordance with the requirements of BSI No.
1186, Quality of Timber and Workmanship in Joinery
2. The whole of the timber shall be from the heart of sound and fully
grown tree, uniform in substance, straight in fibre, first class quality
properly seasoned, free from large or loose dead knots, and open
shakes and excessive sapwood.
The beadings here used are to provide an attractive border around doors and
windows. They also are supposed to cover the gaps between door or window
jambs and the surfaces of surrounding walls. And for the said purpose
beading around door and window needs to be installed with a consistent
reveal between the inside edges, making sure the beads are level and
plumb. In order to fit casings properly, the jambs and wall covering must lie
in the same plane. If either protrudes, the casings will not lie flush. To solve
this problem, youll need to remove some material from whichever surface is
protruding.

A bead is a woodworking decorative treatment applied to various elements of wooden furniture, boxes
and other items.
A bead is typically a rounded shape cut into a square edge to soften the edge and provide some
protection against splitting. Beads can be simple round shapes, or more complex patterns.
A bead may be created with an electric router, a special moulding handplane or a scratch stock. Beads
are usually cut directly into the edge of the item to which the bead is being applied. However, beads
applied across the grain are usually cut into a separate piece which is then fixed in position.
