1. Computer

Is a programmable machine that responds to


a specific set of instructions.

2. Desktop

Desktop consists of pictures, called icons that


show various types of documents.

3. Icon

Is a small program that represents a


program.

4. Shortcut

Is a special type of file that points to another


file or device.

5. Taskbar

Is an application that lets you perform tasks


such as switching between open windows

6. Wallpaper

Is a pattern or picture that is displayed on the


desktop.

7. Hardware

Refers to objects that you can actually touch,


like disks, keyboards and printers.

8. Software

Anything that can be stored electronically is


software.

9. CPU

CPU is simply referred as the central


processor, but more commonly called
processor, the CPU is the brains of the
computer where most calculations take
place.

Modem

A modem is a device or program that enables


a computer to transmit data over, for
example, telephone or cable lines.

computer.
