Gandhi

was born in Porbandar,


India( present day Gujarat)
He was the leader of Indian nationalism
and known later as Mahatma which
means great soul, he was one of the
greatest national leaders of the
twentieth century.

Gandhi was heavily


influenced by the Hinduism and Jainism
religions, which his mom was interested
with.
He represented the Indians and Hindus.
Gandhi protested against the British
monopoly on salt. This was called the
Civil Disobedience. This took place
during the late 1800s through the early
1900s.

Goals
Obtain

freedom for India from British

rule.
Provide India with a new government
Gain rights for women

Success or Fail?
He

did indeed gain freedom for India,


but did fail to gain human rights for
women as well as removing the caste
system.
