Languages in India

Tobias Kers, 2G1

The national language of India is Hindi. But that is not the only language thats
spoken in India. There are over 400 different dialects in India. In India you can
divide all the languages in three groups.
Like I said there are over 400 different dialects in
India. There are 24 official languages. Every state
and territory also have an official language. One of
the languages that is spoken in India is English. In
the Indian government, they speak English. The
government uses English or Hindi to communicate
with other states. They speak English because
England colonized India.
India hasnt got one language that is spoken everywhere.
There are a lot of languages. In the past it was hard to
communicate with all the different languages. There were also
a lot of opinions about what the official language should be. It
is easier to communicate now, because there are a lot of
Indian people who speak English.
Of all the countries in the world, India has the most official
languages, 24. India isnt the country with the most languages,
that is Vanuatu, with over 100 languages. Some languages in
India have their own alphabet.
