Lesson Plans for the Week of January 18-22, 2016

English 2:
Monday:
1. New seatswill be finalized by Fridaycan move around until
the right fit is found this week
2. Entrance log question:
3. Get all sections caught up on notes over Act I of Julius Caesar.
Needs to be a good review daynot meeting with all classes on
Tuesday
4. HOT seat questions:
a. Who are friends with Caesar?
b. Who warned Caesar about the ides of March?
c. What happened to Caesar when he was offered the crown?
d. At the end of the act we know what day it is. When will
Caesar be offered the crown?
e. Can you explain why Caesar does not like Cassius?
f. Can you explain why Cassius does not like Caesar?
g. Give an example of one of the warnings seen in Rome that
tells Casca maybe Caesar shouldnt be king.
h. Why do you think the common people support Caesar but
more respected people, like Brutus, dont?
i. What can you conclude about the personality of Brutus?
j. Can you elaborate on the reason why Brutus does NOT
want Caesar to be crowned king?
k. Would it be better for the conspirators to have Brutus on
their side? Explain.
l. What would it be like to live in Rome during this time?
Tuesday:

2. Hand out Week 12 vocabulary. Review words with students.
3. HOT seat questions over Act II
a. Where did Act II take place?
b. How many days has it been since the girls first started
accusing people in Bettys bedroom?
c. What was the reason Rebecca Nurse was arrested? Martha
Corey? Elizabeth Proctor?
d. Can you explain the significance of the poppet in this act?
e. Describe what type of questions Rev. Hale asks the
Proctors. How do they respond to these questions?
f. Give an example of a time where stage directions were
significant in this act?
g. Why do you think that Rev. Hale behaves in a more
confused manner in this act?
h. What motive is there for John to still show loyalty toward
Abigail at the beginning of this act?
i. What motive is there for John to no longer have loyal
toward Abigail?
j. What can you conclude about what it takes to accuse
someone of witchcraft, based on the three reasons these
women have been accused?
k. Why do you think that Elizabeth willingly goes off to jail?
l. Can you elaborate on the reason why Arthur Miller ends the
scene with John saying that they have been stripped
naked? What does that mean?
m. Arthur Miller uses his own bias to make us the cheerleaders
for certain characters and hate other characters. Who are
we cheering for? Who do we hate?

Oral Communications:
Monday:
1. 1. New seatswill be finalized by Fridaycan move around until
the right fit is found this week.
2. Have students sign into Classroom and enter Oral Comm class.
3. Find syllabus and discuss all components of it.
4. Discuss speech that will be given on Thursday. Look at
requirements and look at what is needed to be typed and turned
in to the teacher.
5. Discuss grading rubric.
6. Give class time to work on ideas for speech.
Tuesday:
1. No class- STEM festival
Wednesday:
1. Answer any questions regarding speech on Thursday.
2. Practice an impromptu speech to get over stage fright on
Thursday.

c. What you plan to do after you graduate from high school
3. Discuss stage fright
a. Everyone feels that way
b. Take a deep breath before going up and even when you are
in front of us
c. Ask to get a drink before/after you speak
d. No one can really tell how nervous you are.
