REFLECTION

We chose this unit because of the fact that it is a reasonable topic to refer to simple grammar
rules. It is a topic which can be carried out throughout the real lives of students so they can
associate what they have learnt from this class with the events that they can come across in
their real life experiences in a village or farm. We can also support this class with any kind of
visuals and videos easily. Teacher can make this topic applicable, also. First, students will get
the point, understand the topic and its components. Then, they can go and see a farm, it
enables students to internalize the knowledge so that visit makes the learning more
permanent and long-lasting. It is a unit topic also which can be grabbed something from
surrounding. I mean that students can learn from the teacher but on the other hand, they can
also learn something from their families or peers. Learning should not cover only theoritical
knowledge, I think. It should also be carried out to the students real lives. Thus, learning
provides students different source of knowledges and areas which they can need through
their lives.
We spend most of our time thinking about Degree step because degree step is the step
which determines the outcomes of the class. Students acquirements is the most important
thing in teaching. Rather than teaching, learning is the vital thing in learning process. While
determinig our degree, we highly benefited from national curriculum. We considered about
childrens age, willingness, capacity, readiness to course etc. Although the curriculum is
certain in advance, we tried to make the class more entertaining and easily remembered by
the students.
We determined prerequisite skills and knowledge depending on state objectives. Objections
is mostly based on students conditions. As necessitated by national curriculum, all classes
have some objectives. We specified our objectives by attributing both curriculum and the
students needs. Time allocation is divided equally for each topic according to their intensity.
For example, we spent most of our time for grammatical structures and group working which
develops their collaborative skills in the classroom.
We benefit from different methods and approaches. We used Direct Method, Natural
Approach and Content Based Instruction. The reasons why we chose these approaches are
their suitabilities for students needs and levels. We used projection as we need to
demonstrate texts and grammatical structures through presentations, websites, videos,
visual aids, survey etc.
We used eclectic approach as each students style of learning is different from each other
and we are supposed to fulfil their self actualization and knowledge acquisition. Each
material we used is to stimulate different aspects of learning styles.
Rather than giving challenging tasks, to increase students participation, learners are asked
questions about themselves not based on just grammar or content, role plays are brought
into class and the class is divided into small groups .; so that class can be more enjoyable for
students to attend.
Pop quizzes can be held on at any time so students are required to come to class on time
and steadily.
