The main reasoning behind creating the Digi-Pak and Poster was to help
promote and advertise our artist Dave Giles and the EP we created for
him which included the song we made a music video for The Brew
Song. These two products are very memorable within the music
industry and are the most common ways of advertising artists and their
albums. Shots of digi-pak and poster

The ideas and themes for our digi-pak and poster came from research
we carried out into the singer/songwriter genre and we looked at
existing examples such as Ed Sheeran. Adele, George Ezra and Jake Bugg.
Shots of examples

Our main focus for the digi-pak was on our artist and the importance of
his guitar. This emphasises the individuality of the genre, and how
important their instrument is. We took pictures of him performing so he
looks natural and un-posed which portrays the themes of the genre well.
We also included a picture of him with a mug, which links back to the
music video, and the name of the song. Pictures of his gig and digi-pak

We took a different approach with the poster as we didnt include our
artist. We featured a picture of a gig venue he played at which is suitable
and links to the genre well. We focussed on the simplicity of it and the
warm, friendly colours which relate to the themes of the genre. We
think it works well advertising the song even without the artist present,
because there are no distractions and its very clear what is being
advertised. Shots of poster

We created both the digi-pak and poster using Photoshop, which
Tasneem was very experienced with using so she was able to work really
efficiently. We used pictures I had taken myself and one of Daves gigs
and on the day of the music video shoot. Photoshop shots and digi-pak
and poster

Digi-Pak- Shots of digi-pak throughout

Extra Panel (MCU of Dave)- We put a shot of Dave here where he is
slightly posed but still looks natural and gives across this kind of
feeling. We did this to emphasise his importance as an individual
artist.
Inside right (CD)- Here we have a picture of Dave performing with his
guitar which was taken on the music video shoot. He is holding a mug
which links to the lyrics and the name of the song.
Inside centre- This picture was taken at one of his gigs and shows the
set up he had for his merchandise table. This highlights the genre
well as it shows how singer/songwriters make money besides sales of
their music and portrays the very simple set ups they have. This
picture links to the poster as they are the same image.
Inside left (Close up of Dave playing his guitar)- This shot was taken
on the music video shoot and emphasises this importance of this
instrument to Dave and his music and relates to other artists in the
genre as well e.g. Ed Sheeran.
Front cover (picture of Dave at his gig)- this image shows Dave in an
environment that is natural to him and would be to other
singer/songwriters too. It shows him singing which highlights his
performance style well and he has a very passionate facial expression
when he sings.
Back cover- This is another picture of Dave at his gig where we can
see his full body and the simple/casual clothes he is wearing. We
placed the EP details in the space available which works well because
it doesnt cover anything important. We used a simple font which
emphasises the simplicity of the genre. We also placed social media
icons to indicate the platforms Dave is available on and helps to give
him a larger following.

How do they link?

Mug The mug is featured on the digi-pak and in the music video.
We included it to emphasise the theme of drinking tea, which directly
links to the lyrics and name of the song. Mug shot of Dave and in MV

Guitar- We featured the guitar quite a lot on the digi-pak and music
video which emphasises the importance of the instrument to Dave,
and this relates to other singer/songwriters and their instruments
too. Shots of guitar on digi-pak and in MV
Same pictures/ shots- Throughout the three products we have
featured pictures and shots that appear on more than one product.
For example, there is a shot of Daves guitar which was taken from
the music video shoot . Also, a shot of Dave with the mug was
directly taken from the music video.
There is a shot of Daves merchandise table that was used on the
poster and digi-pak, so this links the two together. Shot of guitar and
merch table
Clothes- Daves clothes in the pictures and music video are extremely
similar and showcase his casual approach well. They link the music
video and digi-pak well because there isnt a hug contrast in Daves
appearance =e which would be a huge distraction and not suitable to
the genre. Shots of Dave in digi-pak and MV
