MODULE 1: DATA PROTECTION TECHNOLOGIES

EXERCISE

This class uses Windows Server 2012 R2 and CentOS 6.5 as the client OS. The storage has been tested on
real and virtual NetApp platforms. If you have questions about performing the tasks, see your instructor.
In this exercise, you use NetApp OnCommand System Manager to explore the lab environment that is used
for the exercises in this course. You provision storage to use for this exercise and the remaining exercises.
You add the necessary licenses. You create a new aggregate and FlexVol volumes. The tasks that you perform
include:

Configuring a network time server

Checking the licenses on each cluster

Creating new aggregates and FlexVol volumes

Creating new storage virtual machines (SVMs)

Setting up CIFS on each cluster

These tasks must be completed successfully to enable you to complete the remaining exercises in this course.
OBJECTIVES

By the end of this exercise, you should be able to:

Configure a network time server

Identify and add licenses that are installed on a Data ONTAP 8.3 cluster
Create SVMs
Use NetApp OnCommand System Manager to create new aggregates and FlexVol volumes
Configure the CIFS protocol on an SVM
