A Summary Report of the January 26, 2016

C F S D Governing Board Meeting
Approval of Changes to High School Courses and
Programs for 2016-2017 (second reading)
Associate Superintendent Mary Jo Conery presented
the proposed changes that include a fourth year high
school
mathematics
course,
Applications
of
Mathematics, and the course descriptions for AP
Seminar and AP Research. There was also a
modification to the title for the Statistics and Discrete
Mathematics course. There were no additional
recommended changes from the first reading on
January 12. The governing board approved these
course changes for the 2016-2017 school year as
presented.
Consideration of Revisions to Policy GCQC,
Resignation of Professional Staff Members (first
reading)
Assistant Superintendent Denise Bartlett presented the
proposed revisions to the districts current policy on
resignation of professional staff members. The
revisions will provide clarity regarding the boards
position on the resignation of any staff member
employed under a contract agreement. Specific
language provides the Superintendent with the final
word on the recommendation of a resignation if the
departure of the employee is in the best interest of the
district, and makes it clear that the board will notify the
State Board of Education requesting disciplinary action
if an employee abandons a contract.
Consideration of Proposed Revisions to Policy JQ,
Regulation JQ-R and Exhibit JQ-E, Student Fees,
Fines, and Charges (first reading)
Dr. Conery presented the proposed revisions to the
districts current policy, regulation, and exhibit. The
proposed revisions include an expansion of the list of
examples of property for which students will be fined if
lost or damaged, the addition of standardized testing
fees as tax credit eligible, and the elimination of the
exhibit.

The next regularly scheduled governing board meeting
is Tuesday, February 9, 2016, 6:30 p.m., Catalina
Foothills High School, Building 4, Room 712.
